Have you had this before where someone just says, "hey, we want your domain, please send us the transfer code." ??

I'm chalking this up to them being french and maybe a language/translation issue, but this was the exact inquiry:

We have a project to transfer Domain Name: lsh.ca to our registrar. The customer agree see above. Is it possible to send the transfer code for do this ? Thank you for help.

These guys are "it professionals" and they understand transfer codes, so you'd think this isn't complete naivety about domains.

And this wasn't the first time I've had an inquiry like that.

Anyone else had funny/bizarre inquiries?

Very bizarre indeed. I get a lot of spam emails about "renewing" domains I dropped years ago, but I never received anything quite like that.

At first I thought the domains was ish.ca and when I checked whois it said it was a restricted domain, so for a moment there I wondered if you owned a domain that was supposed to be restricted for someone else. I now see the domain is LSH (and not ish), so there goes that theory... unless the people who reached out happened to own ish.ca and made the same mistake as I just did?

I doubt it, since it seems extremly unlikely... and if it's not that then it must be some sort of scam attempt...? Not sure who would ever fall for that though.

How many fell for the Nigerian prince scam? Scammers aren’t usually targeting you and me I don’t think. Hoping to catch the unsuspecting.
