Got this notice today, GoDaddy was trying to renew my discount club.

Good thing my Credit Card on file there was expired

$965.97 + HST = $1091.54

And they're still more expensive than the competition?

Thing is the GoDaddy Auctions with automatic renewal kinda hooks you in when you get a domain from them, they can technically charge anything they want on those domains.

Godaddy used to be so much better. I miss the days when they put out coupons, and you could get some really good deals on registrations and renewals. I remember going to the forums and looking to see what the latest Godaddy coupons were that were still active.

I've repeated this many times in the past, you can easily get the same pricing as discount club renewals at other places.

What you are really paying for with GoDaddy discount club is a discount on their inflated prices.

So if you have to do business at GoDaddy it allows you to get closer to standard rates offered by other registrars but GoDaddy wants you to pay for the fact they are losing the extra income.

If you want to make a point, then the next time a godaddy broker wants to buy a domain from you, tell them the normal price is (for example), $20,000, but if you pay $5,000 for the broker discount club, then the domain is only $16,000.

Or if you actually want the domain discount club, the next time you are approached to sell a domain through a godaddy broker, tell them you want your $xxxxx price for the domain PLUS a free domain discount club membership.
