His $80B company, xAI, just bought X for $33B... (1.Viewing)

Not really

Her personally guaranteed the Twitter purchase with backers from dubai and such.

Selling to xAI shifts it to one of his companies, so basically taking the responsibility off his shoulders.
He is the majority shareholder of Twitter and xAI. It's hardly some arm's length transaction.

Musk is spending more time shitposting on X now than even running his companies.

He posts hundreds and hundreds of nonsense tweets a week.

I am not sure how this "sale" helps with that.

Maybe focus on Tesla. The sales and brand value are tanking as other EV are growing.

There is a big difference in company ownership and personal ownership.
Musk was personally involved with the Twitter purchase.

Yes he owns stock in both companies but from what I read he gave personal guarantees for twitter and xAI basically functions without him. All he does is own shares and he is basically setting twitter up to run without him in a similar fashion. The sale dissolves his personal responsibilities and shifts them to the company xAI.

Well, he does far more than just own shares in Twitter and xAI. He basically controls the platform and companies.

It's not like it is just some passive, hands off investment.

You have one company selling to another company, both with the same majority shareholder.

Maybe it will bring a new focus.

He can spend less time doing stupid antics like parading on stage with a chainsaw, less time paying people to boost his accounts so he can pretend to be some elite gamer, and focus more on his companies.

I think my favorite Musk moment lately is after parading around on stage with the chainsaw, celebrating all the jobs that have been cut.

Then whining in an interview that Tim Walz is "evil" and a "jerk" for celebrating Tesla's stock price went down.

The Tesla CEO continued, “What an evil thing to do—what a creep, what a jerk. Like, who derives joy from that?

Musk is the guy who said - “The fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy, the empathy exploit".

So, it's kind of funny when a "fuck your feelings" guy wants you to care about their feelings.

Anyway, he should get back to business. Everything he has done lately is just a massive distraction from that.
