TBR Drop - Apr 30, 2025 (3.Viewing)

Hi everyone,
You can still join the auction, and place your bids for today's drop.

Good luck & happy bidding day!

MarineN @MarineN I think there’s a delay in your bidding notifications. I tried bidding today, but got the email notifications 2 hours later.

I was still receiving "Your bid has been received" emails at 15h11 and they came in mixed up (200$ bid came in before $140 bid for example). Gmail/workspace on my side.

Thanks for the feedback! What's the email subject?
Oh no! You got outbid!

This was 2 hours ago and the auction has already ended. There was nothing I could do on my part even if I wanted to. 😆

It's been like that for a long while - there is just so much bidding going on at the same time, that the notifications are delayed. I looked into it, and some of this is due to the mail providers like Bell and Rogers, who see this absolute mass of email flooding in from one source, so the system views it as potential spam and parses each message individually.

Not a big deal, as there are only 3 minute increments so you need have eyes on the auctions anyway.

I think the only solution is for WHC to win fewer TBR domains, thus have fewer auctions.

I don't think it is acceptable now that we are in 2025. These bidding platforms can handle many thousands of bids. I am sure that wouldn't be the excuse from WHC, but you are trying to make a point, I understand it and play along with you. ;)

If you're playing the WHC auctions, with 3-minute increments and a mass amount of bidding, using your email, then good luck with that. :p

I can probably loan you my old stone tablet if that would help out.

Like I added, email providers like Bell and Rogers seeing the monumental flood of email coming from one source, and naturally this will get flagged as potential spam and parsed through the "slow way".

Not sure why when WHC is running like 50-100 auctions some weeks, they even send out email updates. There are weeks it's absolute madness and I can't even keep up using the auction platform, and I couldn't imagine using email updates as my sole method of playing the auctions.

WHC should just drop the email, as their auction system has grown too large.

I agree, but it would have been nice if you could get a real-time notification in case you wanted to update your bids.

I don't think it will ever work like that, as companies like Bell and Rogers aren't going to allow a flood of suspicious email to pouring in without parsing and filtering it for spam. Even in the best of times, there is a natural delay with email.

WHC has just gotten too large and sometimes there are 30-50+ auctions running at the same time with madmen bidding like crack addicts.

Like I said, the best solution is for WHC to drop some TBR links so they only win 5-10 TBR auctions per week.

That’s fine. I wasn’t trying to win anything today anyway.

I was just laughing at the email that said something like, “Oh no! You have been outbid! Head on over to the auction to update your bid.” And the auction ended 2 hours ago. 😆

Like I said it's been like this since WHC bought more TBR links that God and we're pretty well used to it. I remember RLM posted about how he got an absolute deluge of email all at once, and with how that boy bids, I doubt he was joking.

Every Wednesday at 1 PM WHC is like a madhouse and for about an hour we're all living in it.
