What happens when you switch your X handle? (1.Viewing)

Recently our X handle was changed from AI_TLDS to ai_dot_now

Not even 5 minutes after the switch someone took our old handle and started impersonating us.

I have an easy solution...

I have x4 X.com handles and a couple of them are spares, here is how you do it properly...

1. Decide which X handle is an unneeded spare called HandleSpare

2. Change your main handle from Handle1 to Handle2

3. Immediately go in and change HandleSpare to Handle1


That safeguards your old X handle and allows you to go back to it if needed in the future.



I did that because I also own my real name and if I ever want to change my handle from MapleDots to real name I have the ability to do it.

Having some aged spare X handles is a wise move and may help prevent situations like this.

Also remember, there technically is no need to change your X handle ever if you use @RealName because you can change the display name to whatever you want so...

Business1
@RealName

becomes

Business2
@RealName

Or you can do the opposite...

RealName
@BusinessName

and switch the name any time you like

RickSchwartz.com
@DomainKing


Also by having both handles you can switch them around anytime you like.
