Been holding off on this announcement but...

A US services company expanding it's services into Canada has purchased, paid, and received the domain for $65,000 USD.

It is not a word but an acronym used by the company and it goes to show the value when knowing who the end user is.

At this time I am not willing to divulge the 4 letters because it gave me an idea to accumulate similar domains for other service brands.

I own a few hundred 4 letters and this one was part of a catalog I purchased so I am pleased with the outcome of the purchase and the sale itself.

It is the largest sale I have had for a NON WORD 4 letter domain.

The domain was paid for using Wise.com and ended up at just over 90k CAD

It's a good example of how domains can sell at anytime regardless of what's going on in the economy, companies are always planning something and thinking longer term that just the current economic climate.

Also keep in mind this was sold to an apparently-large US company looking to expand into Canada.

All I've been seeing lately is interest from potential US or European buyers, and since the Liberals snuck back into power, the offers from Canadian business have all dried up.

Is this the kind of domain that could have been posted for sale on the forum for $50 or $100 and no one would have taken it, or it would make it through a TBR untouched? lol

I own a lot of 4 letters like runr.ca and I try to sell them with a meaning but they rarely sell.

This one was a pure acronym with commonly used letters, I only have a few that are similar and am currently trying to acquire more.

They do hit TBR on occasion but anyone that knows about domains knows what popular letters are and usually someone picks them up at TBR, they don't often drop.

The reason I'm not disclosing this one is that there are similar companies in the US and due to some political issues these companies are now interested in Canada making it an opportunity for someone who knows and has the proper domain names waiting.

4 letters are pretty easy to acquire so I figured why not get a few before I announce the sale. I managed to get 3 in under a week and paid less than 1k for all 3 combined.

I've registered quite a few 4L.ca's that start with 'bc' for the obvious reason that they could be used by a company or organization in BC, like bcse and so on. There are a few letters nice to have on the end, and the third letter usually anything other than z, q, v, and the likes.

I hope to see you announce the sale at some point, would look great on the weekly DNJournal list.
