Most University students will ask you of you are running a temperature if you leave a voicemail.

Voicemail is fast becoming a feature of the past, having to dial in, listen, delete is so yesterday.

The only time I would ever use VoiceMail is if it was right on my phone with one button access, no dial in etc. Just a list, click to listen and be done.

For my business I have that on my computer screen, I can listen to a voicemail in a click and delete it just as fast.

I use the Ooma service.

On my iPhone, all my voicemails are translated to text and displayed, so I never have to call in unless I want to.

I do still check and follow-up on voicemails. Actually I let many of my unknown calls go to voicemail for screening. And I somewhat expect most people to contact me by other means before calling me.

iPhone's voice to text helps. Next version of iOS 26 will include call screening: iOS 26 call screening promises to keep spam callers at bay — here's how to set it up
The on phone call screening in Android works great for years already ;) I've only had one person that ended up in it with a real call so far.

The translation of voicemails to text used to be a free network function at Fido, now Rogers wants to charge me for it (as does Fido now). "Visual Voicemail".

I'll check it once in a blue moon on my personal line.

I've got Telus Business Connect set up to send a follow-up text if I miss a call. Converts most callers into texters which I prefer.
