There was more to the conversation I cannot share but it looks like NamePros is warming up to DN.ca and they said they could keep the topic and forums for us in a dedicated .CA forum with subforums.
They basically said they are offering all of the NamePros resources to keep the .CA community healthy and happy.
It's a big change from the old NamePros and they offered to set up a meet to discuss further.
Opinions?
Edit: Searching for DN.ca on NamePros still yields rule_violation as the result. Our system is completely open and you can link freely to NamePros, that decision was made a while back as Forum Friends came online.
Can't say I'm really entertaining that offer, I'm happy to give up ownership but it would only be to the community itself with an elected board. After that board members could make all the decisions.
I tried that at the beginning but the community was not large enough yet and I predict when a few LARGE .CA sales happen (and they will happen) we will get an influx of members trying their hand at domaining again.
I was more posting this to show that NamePros is kind of softening their stance after losing the entire .CA Community because they did not understand our needs.
I am open to a partnership with NamePros and possibly their landers but only if the silly rule_violation goes away and members are free to post or link freely between the two platforms.
I think this forum has a decent pulse with the Canadian slant, even this past year when it seems there isn't much to talk about in the way of spashy .ca sales. I can imagine it would get busier when there are more reported sales to talk about, and other .ca developments.
If DN.ca merged with NamePros, I would probably not stick around. I love the Canadian focus here. I rarely spend time on NamePros, very little content of quality over there, is flooded with amateurs offering bad advice to other amateurs.
