I made some topics not that long ago stating how I use Umami web stats on my landers to keep track of traffic and I found something quite interesting.

Soooo much traffic recorded to landers is actually BOT activity, it starts off slowly enough but as they find your pages the activity grows and grows and its a constant fight to filter it out.

So don't assume the traffic from your stats you see at spaceship, saw, etc is actual human activity, I am pretty certain most of it is just bots.

I have notices something quite interesting though...

On my landers you have to click through to get to the make offer page (see red.ca for an example) so anyone hitting the lander has to click to inquire. The interesting thing about that is I see virtually no BOT activity on the click through. When I look at my raw web stats and see tens of thousands of hits it makes me feel good but in reality they are worth nothing because when I look at the click through to the form the traffic goes down substantially but every time I check I see legitimate activity instead of Boardman USA or Singapore or some crap like that where the bot activity comes from.

Having the contact form one click in is a way better way of tracking legitimate interest in your domain. So much so that I virtually look at no other traffic anymore. If you did not click through you were not interested... period!
