I haven't registered yet, but apparently the 'Member feedback' already has 71 forms/63 votes by one participant? Sure hope that's a testing forum or something because that's immediately suspicious if they're only announcing this now but it's been populated with feedback.

OK I just poked around. What a complete waste of time. CIRA clearly isn't listening or is actively avoiding honest engagement and discussion.



From the platform's (Cocoriko) various terms/conditions/policies:

Terms of Use

It is forbidden to post content that harms or causes harm to any person, community or group.

A definition of "harm" is needed. If I were to hypothetically comment something about CIRA that is "harmful" to the board or their executive but is grounded in truth, is that comment forbidden?

Privacy Policy

When you create a Cocoriko account, you must provide your name, email address, age, gender and postal code. You also have the option of providing other personal information.

Maybe I didn't get far enough, but I don't see why age/gender/postal code are at all relevant to opinions/comments about CIRA. What's the underlying purpose of collection of this data?

Moderation Rules

Contributions from users who ignore or misdirect the topic of discussion may have their comments removed. Repetitive, off-topic or general comments may be removed. Be relevant.

And who decides what's topical? The executive of CIRA, who have an obvious incentive to keep topics to what they deem convenient? The power imbalance is insane.

Comments that are phrased as a question. The platform is available to express your position.

So in other words, this is NOT a forum (a public square/open discussion space) and it is NOT for community engagement.



Looking at the member feedback "consultation" space, it's just a series of polls and surveys. With an end date no less. Highlights in below screenshot are mine:

Throughout the sections (particularly the last one) there are free-form response boxes, but what in the hell is the point if it's not a public discussion space?



To the CIRA board and executive - you folks have a LOOOONG way to go when it comes to learning how to engage the membership. This forum has done far more for CIRA membership engagement than you have .... well, for as long as I can ever recall.
 
It would be fairly easy to add a discussion board but most businesses I know have closed down their discussion boards because of the constant need to have moderators on board.

I do use Public Mobile for my cell phone and find they have a nice community forum which is something CIRA may want to consider.
