Fruits hits 2.6 million domains, launches new features

Fast-growing domain sales platform adds new features to improve conversion rates for domain sellers.

Fruits.co lander
Fruits released a new lander design this week.
Fruits didn’t set out to become a domain name-only sales platform. It just sort of worked out that way.

When the business launched in 2022, it was a marketplace for all types of digital goods. But the founding team quickly realized that domain names were the best market to tackle.

“With domains, it doesn’t take any time for sellers to create the products,” said fruits (the company stylizes its name with a lower-case f) founder Dr. Fabian Heuschele. “When working with content creators, they first had to build an ebook — often with our help — and then sell it for just a few euros.”

Indeed, domains are easy to create and sell for a lot more money.

Sales landers or checkout links that allow setting the price in CAD?

FabianDomains @FabianDomains is the official rep for them here on dn.ca

So far from what I see...

Positives
  • Phenominal layout and look
  • You can price in CAD
  • Owners are easy to engage with

Negatives for Canadians
  • Sales Tax is called VAT which Canadian may not understand
  • Copyright says Fruits Gmph meaning comapany with limited liability which Canadian may not understand
  • Says Made with Love in Munich which may or may not work in North America

From what I see the positives far outwheigh any minor negatives and I'm probably going to give them a test spin soon.

Frequently asked questions

How do I start selling a domain?
To start selling your domains, simply access the product cockpit. You can upload multiple domains in bulk or add them individually. Just enter your domains, set your desired price, and you’re ready to go. Once your domains are uploaded and priced, you’ll instantly receive a sales link to share. For a complete overview of your domains, visit the Dashboard in the menu.

How do the sales landers look like?
fruits offers beautiful and conversion-optimized sales landing pages with flexible pricing options, including fixed prices and price suggestions. Check out an example sales landing page here.

Can I sell worldwide and as a commercial entity?
fruits supports sellers and buyers from almost every country, making transactions between the EU and the US seamless. We take care of invoicing and ensure proper VAT payment in the buyer’s country on behalf of the seller. fruits welcomes sellers from the EU, the US, and many other regions. Whether you're a private individual or a commercial entity, fruits provides a simple and effective platform for selling.

How does invoicing work at fruits?
Immediately after a purchase, buyers receive an automated invoice (PDF) via email. The invoice includes the purchase price (gross and net) as well as the VAT. fruits issues the invoice, ensuring that your information as the seller remains private and is not shared with buyers.

What information does fruits need from me as a seller?
fruits requires your seller information only once, prior to your first payout, in compliance with legal requirements as part of our KYC (Know Your Customer) process. For individuals, we need your name, address, and a valid ID. For businesses, we require an ID from the company's legal representative, the company name and legal form (e.g., GmbH, AG, OHG), registration number (if applicable), the address of the registered office or principal place of business, and the incorporation document.

When do I get my money and what does the worldwide tax return mean?
As a seller, you will receive a monthly payout of your total earnings directly to your payout account. The KYC process only needs to be completed once beforehand. Credit notes are sent to you as a PDF via email or can be downloaded from your menu.
fruits, a Germany-based sales platform, simplifies international transactions by handling the complex VAT calculations required for different countries' tax rates. We take care of invoicing and ensure that VAT is correctly paid according to the buyer’s country.

What are the fruits nameservers?
To make your domains accessible and ready for purchase, simply use the fruits nameservers. Just update the following nameservers at your domain registrar, and you’re all set to start selling effortlessly!

ns1.gofruits.co
ns2.gofruits.co

How can I integrate fruits with domain parking providers?
You can integrate fruits with any parking provider (e.g., ParkingCrew) - it’s super simple! A link to your fruits sales lander will then be displayed on the parking site. Most of the time, the link says “Buy the domain here,” and when people click on the link, they are directed to the fruits sales lander where they can buy the domain.

To make it work, just follow these 3 simple steps:

1. Upload your domains to fruits (Login | fruits).
2. Go to your parking provider, and under general settings, select “Edit the for sale link” and add a “New external sales link.”
3. You can choose any name for the link (e.g., “fruits Link”) and use the following format for the external sales link to update your parked sites: “https://www.fruits.co/domain/[domainname]”.

Your parked sites will now include a “For sale” link, and you can start selling your domains.

Much success!

How does Lease-to-Own of domains work?
Lease-to-Own is an excellent option for buyers to purchase even high-priced domains by paying in monthly installments instead of making a large upfront payment. You can find all the details about rent-to-own in our Terms and Conditions under section 6.

It looks and feels very much like DAN used too and I like how they show the seller but you cannot click the seller to view all their offerings which probably means they don't have individual storefronts, something that is lacking from virtually every marketplace I have reviewed.

I predict whoever adds that first will be a rousing success!

Hey, thanks for the feedback. With fruits.co, you can of course display your own shop with all of your domains — this is a feature in your account :). You can then share the shop link with your customers and display it across all of your domains. In the case of Naming Canada, they simply chose not to show the shop.
Here’s an example of the flow from one of our (sorry, a bit messy) demo accounts: you can click on the seller’s name and you’ll be taken directly to their shop — fruits.me. Creating this beautiful setup just takes you one minute.

Is there an example link to a shop you can provide, would love to see it?

What does the address look like?

Fruits.co/market/user or similar?

Just tried the search but I don't like when I click on a domain I lose the search and have to click on the back arrow. The search page should open links in a new tab so it's easy to get back to the search. The pages themselves look top notch.

Thanks a lot, we will investigate on this...
