A CIRA cash cow awaits (1 Viewing)

There have recently been some bigger sales of one letter .com's and they are probably some of the most valuable domain names in existance.

On wonders how much cash awaits CIRA if and when they ever decide to auction off one letter .ca domains.

The most famous one letter domain is...... ??

But I don't think that all letters were registered in .COM before that loophole got closed.

I just looked it up and there are only 3 single-letters that were registered in .COM (shown above) as well as 2 NETs and 1 ORG.

Braden Pollock bought some single letter .orgs from the registry. Don't remember how many (couldn't find anything online, only heard him discuss this on Domain Sherpa)

But you can see 2 of his sales on namebio...Q.org for 500k and Z.org for 257K

There could be more but I'm limited to only 20 results on Namebio, and free members can't filter by domain length

As far as the single letter .COM go...

Verisign does not own the .COM registry. They operate it under contract with ICANN.

It would be rather complex to ever release these domains in regards to who gets the domain and who gets the money.

I don't see it happening any time soon, if ever. There would be way too many conflicts of interest.
