Afternic Service is Sucking @ 25% (1 Viewing)

Thank god I bought most of mine a couple of decades ago and the cost was minimal compared to today. (av maybe $50).

Anyway, the funds landed tonight a couple of days early. I don't know if it was James' intercession or I just got lucky. And they only charged me $50 for the transfer...🙄

I don't know if any of you have seen this: I'll be demanding a legal letter indicating they have NOT sold my domain for more than what they notified me about. This whole outfit (industry) is getting as crooked as a 3$ bill.

wow. unbelievable. and what if they're assigning their own brokers to try and sell what they see as an underpriced domain, then cause a domain dispute issue for you. No agent should be doing anything on your behalf without explicit instruction from you to do so.

another idea would be to do a tiered commission, with the % commission decreasing the higher the domain selling price.

at 15% commission, that's $150 on a $1000 domain sale, vs $15000 on a $100,000 domain sale.

It doesn't cost a broker $14,850 more to handle the bigger domain sale, transfer and correspondence.

never mind getting into the 25% range...

They had tiered commission before they changed it to 15% flat.
$30K is the cutoff point. Any transaction over $30K costs more in fees under the new structure.

When you compare the former tiered structure to the new structure, the fees go up drastically the higher the price goes.

Under the previous system on a $100K sale you pay $11,500.
It is $4K for the first $25,000 then $7,500 for the other $75,000.

Under the new system it would be $15,000. So that is $3,500 more on a $100K sale.

It only gets worse from there as GoDaddy is taking 15% of each additional dollar, instead of 10%.

Just got this email:

Hi,

My budget is $2000 . Could you do $2000 for this domain? Thanks

My Response:

To start negotiations please fill out this form:

MapleDots | Inquiry

No commission, all profits 100% mine if the deal closes.
I require my form filled out before I quote a price or start any negotiations.
