The reason I mentioned this post is because I am trying to amalgamate more of my .com's to godaddy and some of my .ca's to whc.
I purchased two catalogs a while back and I am running them fully under the previous owners personas. I purchased all rights, websites etc and it added hundreds of domains to my portfolios.
But my god what a mess, the domains are everywhere, I have so many passwords accounts, I have triple namesilo, dan, namespro, dynadot etc.
And man don't get me started about all the dynadot forum names as opposed to user name to move out, it's all a hot mess.
I will say without hesitation that godaddy has the absolute best bulk tools in the business, they just work, I can select 500 domains and make most any change in a few keystrokes. I can make lists and download insanely detailed spreadsheets that include transfer codes, ownership dates and things you can only imagine.
My account rep calls me up several times a year and asks if he can help me with anything. If I have a large number of domains to bring in he will do it for me. Godaddy has really worked on the tools to give domainers the ability to manipulate hundreds of domains at once.
The problem is other registrars are bare bones and to move things over is a one by one nightmare.
For .ca I see a steady improvement at WHC but the bulk tools still have a long way to go to be truly considered bulk tools.
The only thing I have not been able to do at godaddy is bulk forwards, I can do them in bulk if they are all the same bit if I need a specific domain.com/myothersite/?domain=newdomain the address has to be the same even though the end part would have to be different for each domain.
That said, call godaddy and they do it for you, still not ideal but the last time I had to pay my son to spend 2 days modifying forwards.
So this post is more of a rant for me and even with godaddy I would like to see the bulk tools and registrar services merged with dan.com, maybe
@jamesiles can give us an update on that one.
WHC and godaddy are the two I ultimately want to use because of TBR with WHC and auctions with godaddy.
Everything else is a hot mess I have 4 catalogs in total now. Two newer ones, a private one and my mapledots one.
Managing thousands of domains is turning out to be a full time job and I have had to reduce my working days on one of my other businesses to free up more time.
For 2023 I wish registrars would focus on bulk move in and bulk move out using CSV with the ability to import in being the biggest one. Adding transfer codes on moving in (or out) has to be automated, we cannot continue this manual crap with thousands of domains.
I'm also looking at selling a number of domains in one hundred packs, doing that intimidates me so much because I cannot sit there trying to do all that manually which is why I insisted on buying all credentials for my newer acquisitions. I needed a spreadsheet just for all the accounts and passwords.... what a freaking mess!!!
