Dan.com has paused its Domain API, according to verified sources.

The service provided registrars, domain marketplaces & other services in the domain industry with a feature-rich API to “build your own domain marketplace or enhance your current service by offering secondary market features at your registrar, for example, with limited development & resources required.”

Comes right on the heels of the death of uniregistry

New Poll:
  1. Dan is circling the drain
  2. Dan is going nowhere and is an integral part of GoDaddy's long term plan
  3. No Comment
Only @jamesiles need reply please

Joe Styler said LTO plan is going to be integrated with Afternic. It'll be using the Dan.com lander with GoDaddy branding. Dan's not dying anytime soon.

The question is, will the dan user interface be saved? I don't necessarily care what they rebrand it as. Landing pages are less concern, they're easy to migrate, and they will and should always be evolving anyways. The rest of their interfaces suck balls, so that's what I'm hoping they don't abandon at Dan.

Noticed that they have removed the ability to download buyer's invoice. When you sell a domain, you were able to download both invoices before. It was useful to see who the buyer is. All done to protect the privacy

Until very recently, domain sellers could see the IP address of the party making an offer via the communications window; the IP would appear when hovering above the flag representing the country or locale of the other party.

One could also click on the flag to copy the IP address for further research. It was a very useful piece of intel for the domain seller, who’d acquire a better idea about the other party’s location and intentions.

Now, only the flag appears without providing the IP address when hovering above the flag. Dan.com has also removed the ability to view the IP address of the buyer from past communications!

If you noticice my post above, feature after feature is depreciated until there is no more dan, we all know it.

So time to hop to Afternic if you want some of the missing Dan features

Is it the same way for seller? i.e. the buyer can't see our invoice info either?

Looks like a big set of anti-seller changes to the Dan marketplace.

I really think they're trying to push everyone to Afternic.
