Dan.com switches payments to Payoneer (2.Viewing)

And due to unpopular demand, Dan has backpedaled and Payoneer is now a separate option in payments.

I wonder how much $$$ Dan made from that initial wave of scared users signing up for Payoneer accounts? Maybe that was the plan all along? After all, that fix happened suspiciously quick.

Even worse, Payoneer says domaining is not legal in their terms.

As well as diet pills, cosmetic and beauty products and such.

Why the hell would I do business with a payment system that dictates what I can and cannot sell.

If it is legal Payoneer should accept it, there is no way I am giving that company that much power.

Every sales platform seems to have their issues, whether it's in market reach, fees, support, look of landing pages, ppc, etc.

I favoured Uniregistry market but that is ending.

Sedo and Afternic have their issues but have good visibility and recognition.

Dan seems to have made a mistake here but it's corrected quickly and seems right now, which is the takeaway for me.

Uploading domains is pretty quick and painless, and I like the landing pages have the options of sale, offer, lease, rent.

Whenever I've emailed support I get an answer back pretty quick which is nice to see.

10% commission is about the upper limit for me, I really hesitate going higher even with a platform that has good reach. That 10% or whatever does give you some value in using the system, them dealing partly with the buying and receiving payment, ensuring a safe transfer, etc. For no fees people can always go it alone and create their own landing pages, but there is a price to doing that too, not to mention your time with the buyer, payment and transfer. You can also do a mix of things, using various platforms and handling names you want to deal with yourself.

I don't think there is any perfect system for this.

I had a Payoneer account about a year ago for about six to nine months. The service was so unreliable, for both me and my clients and vendors, and the customer support was so terrible, I was glad to finally close down the account. And even shutting the account took forever. I won't use Payoneer ever again. I still shudder thinking about what a nightmare it was. I cannot fathom why Dan.com thought this would be a good idea. Anyone who has used Payoneer knows what a sh*tshow they are.

I lodged a complaint with Dan 5 minutes after switching to Payoneer because I got instant regret. The origional email said there was no choice and I was in the midst of a few deals which I did not want compromised. Laszlo responded to me personally and had me back on the old system before it became official.

So they are responsive but alas I fear a GoDaddy situation coming here as Dan gets to behemoth size. It will be fit to dan or nothing. Companies only listen to their user base until they have corporate boardrooms where the main conversation is profits. After that every half percentage counts and features or functions will be removed or added purely based upon those percentages.

For that reason alone I hate the fact that Dan is getting so big.

I quite agree too. They provide payment gateway to many MLM companies and wondering if Dan has some plans on giving up a percentage to the parking companies, as a kick back???
