I wish .ca would do the same

That would do nothing other than opening the floodgates to all the 3rd world scammers to start spewing Canada with fraudster crap. After all, registering a .CA does NOT require a Canadian address, only some type of Canadian citizenship, or in the case of a company, a recognized TM.
I know a couple of domain investors who live in Barbados and I have sold several domains to multi-national companies existing outside of Canada.

Be far more worried about fraudsters using your personal data to try and social engineer their way into your other accounts.
