My point here is that the only real option we have left to do business at godaddy is to point our name servers to them.

It removes our ability to have our own landers and still sell at godaddy.

I liked having both and using dan for my closings when generated on my site.
I was not opposed to paying the commission when it was generated on the godaddy side but now the commission of 25% is way too high for that and it effectively removes my ability to do business with godaddy.

So with Domain Academy sponsored by godaddy, what can they still teeach us when the only answer is point our nameservers to godaddy?

Michael is a nice guy, I know DomainAcademy is excellent but the registrar is unimportant when we have to set the nameserver to godaddy. It even removes our control at the registrar level.

So much of what I know from 20 years of domaining is based on me having control of my nameservers.

Sure doman academy can teach us lots but godaddy is removing our tools!

Have you tried using Escrow.com for closings?

I've only used Escrow a few times, I do a lot with E-Transfer and even certified cheque.

I think as Dan removes the 5% (bound to happen) I will probably rely on Escrow a lot more.

When Escrow makes landers (again bound to happen) then it will open up competition again, at least until godaddy buys escrow.

Now let me clarify about godaddy, I loved having my domains registered there, using dan, auctions etc.
I also loved having control of my name servers.

I have no issues with the so called godaddy monoply until it affects what I can do with my nameservers.
On a fundamental level the nameservers are the mostt important part to me allowing me the ability to private sell and list on godaddy (and other) market places. Charging 25% without nameservers pointed to godaddy forced me to remove all my domains from both dan.com and godaddy auctions.

Like I said, this name server issue has me a bit rattled.

Bye Dan: Sedo will keep its BIN landers at 10% commission

It looks like DomainGang agrees with me

In effect from February 1st, the 25% commission is a massive “head tax” that attempts to terrorize domain investors that use their own landing pages, multiple venues, and those that use services that allow the user to pick and choose the transaction platform, such as Domain.io.

The problem with Sedo is the verification, to do it on hundreds of domains is too time consuming. Unless I can change all nameservers to Sedo, list the domains and then change them back but even then I lose all the forwards I had set and those are also in the hundreds. This whole dan issue is a big headache for anyone wanting to use their own name servers. I point to my landers but also sold at dan etc. At 25% that is now out of the question.

The problem is how to list hundreds of domains at sedo, it's too much work verifying the domains
True a pain, although I have found needing to constantly send screen captures to Afternic service to have them take down old listings time consuming and a pain too. If I had to choose one, it would be Sedo TXT verification.

Depending on your registrar, it can be a bit easier. I use NameSilo a fair amount and have a set of the 3 TXT verifications I use (my SquadHelp, Dan and Sedo) all set in a saved group, so it is just press a button and they are done.

A lot of people seem so focussed on the 10% at Sedo if you use their landers is they overlook that commission is only if a direct sale at the BIN price. If it is an MLS still 20% AFAIK which is now higher than Afternic with the simplified 15%.

Exactly, the 10% at Sedo looks good but it's very difficult to get unless you put a BIN on everything and cross your fingers that no MLS buyers come calling at 20%.

I have sold quite a few at Sedo, but I have never got a 10% commission - all my BINs were through MLS so I stopped the experiment and set everything back to Make Offer.
