DomainAgents.com..Does anyone know of these people.
They seem to be domain brokers and have advised they have an offer for one of my .ca domains.
You negotiate directly with the buyer from the DomainAgents.com site.
They take no commissions from the seller. The buyer pays commissions and Escrow.com fees.
Anyone have any insight as to who they are?

They've been around for about 10 years. I've had half a dozen inquires from them in the past year, none resulted in a sale, but I have sold two domains through them over the years, and they were positive experiences. One buyer tried to threaten CDRP if I didn't sell and after I brought it up as being an inappropriate place to do that, DomainAgents did the right thing and told the buyer they were cancelling the negotiation for violating terms of service. So I have nothing negative to report.

It was Eric that contacted me so that helps a lot

I've received a couple of inquiries from them, but on the first transaction they brazenly created an account for me and started fake negotiating with the client (without my permission and posing as me), so I obviously didn't feel comfortable dealing with such an outwardly unethical company, and I continue to delete any of their inquiries.

They may not be outright scammers but they are a bunch of cowboys, making up the rules as they go along.

Could have been just one rogue agent.

Then the company was at fault for hiring him.

Either way, they can suck it.

Here's the full story:

DomainAgents.com inquired about domain I did not have for sale and was contemplating for development. It was a 1-word that I bought off the TBR for myself and the initial contact came through the CIRA form.

I replied nicely that the domain was "not for sale".

Using the email address I replied with and without my permission, the broker proceeded to create an account on DomainAgents in my name.

I then started to receive multiple email updates on the "progress of the negotiations" (that I was not taking part in) with comments attributed to me, and with replies/counters from the potential buyer.

I replied multiple times to the broker telling him to delete the account and stop negotiating as me on a domain that is not for sale. I received no response.

The broker kept the subterfuge going and I believe the end price offered was $2500 USD.

After that the potential buyer got tired of waiting and dropped out. I then received a response asking me where to deposit the $10 (or some small amount) that I was to receive in return for "opening and taking part in negotiations".

I think you can guess where I told him to put his $10.

Due to this highly unethical and fraudulent behaviour, any further inquiries from DomainAgents.com always go straight to the circular file.

I have had some $199 offers for some top domains and then just a day before the transaction would cancel, they buyer upped the offer to $201. What a joke.

I too have sold a couple of domains through them and have dealt with all three of the contacts @rlm has provided. The later being the transfer agent I believe. And ya, the $10 offer..LOL. to the charity of your choice!!!!

The transaction has started through Escrow so we’ll see if they follow through with payment.
Its only a low $xxxx but thought it would be a good one to test drive them.

Congratulations. that looks promising.

I know the founders of DomainAgents and have been in touch with them in the past. I've made offers through their system before and believe I have purchased 1 domain through them. I've also worked on partnerships with them before. No issues/problems on my side so far.

Like @FM, I know the founders of DomainAgents as well, one or both of whom are Canadian, and I have had nothing but good experiences with them. It's kind of a cool service, ahead of its time. The founders are good guys and would not be happy to hear that anyone who worked for them was going rogue.

Have used DomainAgents on 3 occasions and all were Positive Experiences!

It's like the old saying, you never really know what a company is really made of until things start to go sideways or you refuse to play ball. Everything is wine and roses when things go perfectly to plan.

I'm sure if I was open to the sale and did exactly what they told me, I'd have a positive experience too.

But I told them NO.

And I guess at least one of their brokers doesn't like hearing that word.
