Competition is always good. Dan had the best lander, and it worked, which is why everyone else uses a similar layout.

I'm very hesitant to forward traffic for these vertically integrated companies like GoDaddy, DynaDot and Spaceship, as retail domain sales will always be a sideline to them, as opposed to their core business like it is/was at Atom, Dan, Sedo, Saw, DomainEasy, etc.

Many on NP are noticing that the default GoDaddy domain search no longer highlights private domain listings like it used to, and potential buyers now have to click the Afternarket button. That's the kind of thing that bothers me about jumping onboard a company like this as they'll always be trying to push their core business ahead of ours, but still greedily using our domain traffic to build up their customer base.

Great point, I'm with you on that one but the 5% commission is great for anyone needing a decent lander with purchase option.

DomainEasy is free for now but it looks like development has virtually stopped on it for a few months now.

SAW at 9% is reasonable but it's a big chunk to give up on larger sales.

True and thankfully DynaDot isn't ratcheting up the commissions like GD is, while still scamming our traffic. So at least it's cheap.

To compete with Afternic, marketplaces need distribution. Dynadot has integrated its marketplace, allowing buyers to search for listed domains via the reg path. Spaceship has also integrated it and is working on integrating it into NameCheap. While it may not offer the same level of distribution as Afternic, it’s still a better option compared to other marketplaces that only provide lander services.

Sure, and I'm not talking about LISTING DOMAINS there (good) I'm referring to FORWARDING TRAFFIC there (bad).

I think it's great to have your domains listed in many different venues, but I prefer not to send traffic to a vertically-integrated company that may use and abuse MY potential customers. There are many cases of domain investors looking to buy a private domain from these companies and being offered alternates or contacted for other services.

People may disagree, but I personally do not send my valuable traffic to places like this, especially as this is one of the primary reasons GD et al still offer private domain sales as a sideline/customer pipeline. As the Domain King says, a new customer could be potentially be worth millions over a lifetime.
