I dropped my firstnamelastname both in com and ca. I'm not famous to worry about it and I think they look stupid when used as a personal email address.
Besides, your target audience is exceedingly limited which is a big bunch of nope in domaining.

@MapleDots . I agree that they are impractical for email addresses. I'll attempt some outbound marketing for the ones I have and will consider dropping them based on the level of interest I receive.

They make good brands in fields like design, fashion, art, etc.
However, as an investment they need to be very popular names shared by many people.
Something like JohnSmith.com would have a massive pool of potential buyers.

Thanks, Brad. Agreed that certain first+last name domains can be incredibly popular and uniquely personal.
My only concern is the potential risk of trademark issues, which could lead to a UDRP case. How would these usually play out?

Is the name really unique or do thousands of people share it?
Is it a famous person?
How is the domain being used?
My guess is some random person named "Bob Smith" is going to have a hard time establishing exclusive rights, unless you really go out of your way to infringe on their specific use.

I would use something like sales, info, hello... anything but first name as the beginning part of my email.

A lot of fashion brands are named First+Last for instance.
However, I agree that using first@firstlast.com is not a great email.
Most would use support, info, contact, or something similar.
