I'm in favour of combining DAN and Afternic because at this point having both is becoming redundant.

I did try the New Afternic lander the other day and the amount of screens, waiting, and work to get it done is a far more complex process than it was on Dan and the landers are starting to look like Dan but they have a bit more tweaking that needs to be done.

Have you clicked a "Buy Now" button to see what happens?

For me it takes almost a minute to bring up my logged in Godaddy account with redirects and spinning wheels before I see the shoppingbasket.

Far from smooth and probably intimidating to an end user but I'm hopping they will be tweaking that a bit as well.

What was your experience?

I hate using Afternic. It is so user unfriendly and really an embarrassment to Godaddy as the largest domain registrar.

They should move everything into Dan.

If the end product is most Afternic-like than Dan-like, I'd probably move everything over to SAW, or whatever is closest to Dan right now with a reasonable commission.

The problem with that is, that it's really Afternic taking over while they shut down Dan.

For example, Afternic has splashed a coat of 'Dan paint' to create a lander that looks similar, but it has none of the features that Dan offers. It's like Afternic is wearing a cheap Dan mask and hopes you don't look too close.

What they should do is dump Afternic and keep Dan, as the Dan platform is significantly newer, better and more feature-rich than Afternic. But I also think a high-ranking GD exec has a lot employment capital invested in the Afternic brand and will still stick with that no matter how bad the system is by comparison.
