“pre-vetted, well-known and famous brands an escalation path to address IP abuse. It covers fraudulent domains registrations, infringing websites hosted with GoDaddy, among other forms of abuse.”

Sounds to me like if we are godaddy clients we run a real risk if one of their corporate clients launches a complaint.

I don't know about you guys but Epik is looking better and better to me.

Yep, trust me I've seen it happen too. Once upon a time (circa 2005-ish) I know that the top domain registry of the day and its very well known domain broker who owned that company, sold out some of their domainer customers as a carrot to get a very large sports league onboard as a flagship client for their new corporate services business. Some people will do anything to make a buck. Of course that wasn't the only shady thing I saw them do either...

I got this via email

Uni Market: Afternic syndication & pricing updates
Hi there,

Over the last few months we have been able to join forces across the Uniregistry/Afternic GoDaddy Team to share ideas about how to continuously help customers succeed. The end goal is to take the best of two amazing marketplaces and combine them into something that will help domain investors be even more successful!

The changes outlined below and discussed at greater length in the linked blog post are just some of the initial steps taken as a result of this teamwork.

As we discuss some recent and upcoming changes we want to point out that some of these changes may require you to take some action with your domain portfolio to get it fully optimized within Uni.
• Uni Market- Afternic Syndication: We announced this in September and it is officially live- all actively listed domains are now automatically synced onto the Afternic Network. This a huge step forward to helping sell more domain names! It also gives a greater level of visibility into the Afternic Network than has ever been offered before on any platform. Sales sourced from the Afternic/GoDaddy Network (labelled as Network Lead in your Uni Market) have the Uni Syndication commission rate of 20%. Uniregistry direct (for sale lander) commission rates are unaffected.
• Floor Pricing: We are excited to announce the addition of Floor Pricing. This gives you the ability to place an internal only Floor Price on your domains. The Floor Price is one of the most talked about features of Afternic and after some initial testing with Uni users we decided to roll it out to all customers. A Floor Price is a price a seller sets within your Uni Market account which is the lowest acceptable sale price your Uni Market sales representatives can negotiate without seeking your approval.
• Consolidation of List Price/Quote Price We understood this was confusing for many Uni customers and after some testing will be moving forward with only one buy now pricing option—the List Price.
To read the full details on each of these items please see our full blog post here.

Across Uniregistry and Afternic, we are dedicated to improving processes to help you sell more domains. These initial steps will allow us to align more closely together as we work to provide the best overall experience for domain owners and domain buyers in the aftermarket. We are excited for the things to come and as we have more to share, we will!

Thanks,

Wade Smith
Sales Manager

They will soon own everything

I used godaddy years ago when i first started, but quickly figured out that they are the KING of upsells and nickel and diming you.
I use their auctions and that is it. Why would I pay to be in a Domain Club to get special pricing when i can walk in off the street and get the same pricing next door.

So GD will sell you a domain name and hosting then claw it back if someone with more clout than you complains

And then of course there’s this

Not a great trust builder for someone with a valuable domain name or portfolio of domain names
