With the acquisition of DNForum by Epik and the namepros censors in full swing it is only a matter of time before Epik gets banned at namepros. In fact I am kind of surprised it has not happened already.

I checked on the main epik homepage and the forum is not mentioned there. As per the namepros censor policy once epik decides to put a link to DNForum on the main url then they are breaking the rules on namepros. Linking to a competing forum means a ban will be put in place and just like dnforum, when you search zero results will come up.

My my... interesting times...

Censorship is wrong and it will eventually bite namepros in the pocket book as members leave to go to more freedom oriented forums.

Would I predict the ban happening?

How can it not?

Lets say 3 months or so depending on how aggressively Rob Monster markets DNForum.com.
Personally I think he should go all out and put it right up there on Epik because it makes sense to grow the forum on his platform and eventually overshadow namepros. Again, how could it not, with all the tools Epik has at their disposal the growth will eventually explode.

My guess is once the Epik advertising budget dries up there the end will be near. ;)

I don't think the DNForum will survive, making the same mistakes they did over at NP. Too much Epik promotion.

You have newbies starting threads for $50 sales. It's not a thread worthy sale.

You have Epik employees promoting all over the place.

Epik Employee #1 posts about a sale.
Epik Employee #2 a few posts later posts about the Epik ebook.

Epik Employee starts a thread on domain tools, half the tools are Epik.

Rob always starts threads promoting Epik.

Also, seems like the staff is in disarray, not on the same page. Rob wanting people to use real names, then flips and talks about privacy. Lead employee talking about using VPN and such to stay private. You can't be a privacy proponent and then constantly hawk on using real names at the same time.

What about participation from Registrars and other companies? See lots of that at NP. That won't happen at DNForum. Why would GoDaddy participate at a forum owned by a competing registrar? They won't. Among many other companies that domainers can interact with at NP.

Another thread talking about OGs coming back. One mentioned - Last seen Apr 1, 2015. The 2 mentioned in the thread aren't even posting at DNF, what is he even talking about?

That's not even including all the past negative history.

It's not a forum vets will want to hang out at. It's why it's pretty dead, even after the email going out to members, how I found out about the sale. It's not offering anything new. Same domain topics as elsewhere but with lots of Epik promotion.

Same with making forums private, have to sign up to read. Good way to keep the forum from growing. People like to check out, get a feel for a place before participating.

We have people with forums, that don't know how to run forums. The lack of participation bears that out.

Welcome aboard [notify]Jonathan Hitchens[/notify]

I get your points, especially the one about godaddy not wanting to....

Hey, wait a minute.... did I not predict godaddy will buy epik?

Yes I did, in fact given all the tools Epik has available to it I cannot see godaddy not buying them. It is the cheapest way for godaddy to aquire all the tech like a single logon for all the services. That is just one of the examples that godaddy needs given the uniregistry, godaddy, godaddy auctions etc.

So welcome aboard and thank you for the lively response. We are a small bunch here on DN but we are real and we welcome you to our little corner of the internet.

GoDaddy won't touch Epik, again, past history. Read the Wikipedia. All sourced. They don't need that kind of negative attention.

Also, some of their tools are just past thru or scripts. Epik Domain Appraisal is just past thru to Estibot. Other projects like video site, is just some script you can buy, change it up a bit, throw a logo on it.

Thanks for the welcome.

If godaddy survived the Elephant controversy they can survive buying a competitor.

Epik is in your face and growing, like it or not Rob is prolific and in my humble opinion his efforts will eventually bear fruit with an epic buyout. Even if it is not godaddy there will be a buyout, I have inside information about that, in fact talk of a buyout has already occurred in the past. I cannot mention any more about that without giving away my source, but given the past it is not hard to predict the future.

That was a fake controversy. Hunting elephants there is legal and the people there ate that elephant. Some registrars try to take business from them, but for all you know, their CEO's hunt deer in America or other animals. I'm sure the villagers enjoyed that meat.

Not even in the same universe as all that White Nationalist/Nazi stuff, pushing products off a massacre etc. You seemed to have a problem with that in the NP threads.

And I touched on this in my other post. Dan will go at Epik, Epik will take a hit. They had some issues that played out in public and if Dan becomes a registrar, they will target Epik.

Probably will pay their employees better as well if Epik employees are starting threads getting excited about $50 domain sales. When I saw that thread, that was the only thing going thru my mind. $50 is nothing to people getting paid well.

I imagine your source is Rob, it's not hard to figure out. Maybe they do buy them, quietly, scrap any source to that name.
