As the new year approaches I am making changes to how my portfolio is listed.
I have a lot of my domains sitting at SAW & DomainEasy but mostly not with Nameservers.
I think both SAW & DomainEasy will have marketplaces soon so listing there is a good alternative to GoDaddy for me.
That said almost all my domains have their own MapleDots lander now and transitioning to SSL pages was a bugger, I actually had to pay people to help me keypunch domains into cPanel to get each domain to have an SSL certificate.
Here is where the lesson starts...
1. When you create a domain in cPanel have them all go to the same folder by specifying public_html/domains with domains being the folder.
2. Make a lander in that folder specifying the address in the address bar is for sale (see red.ca)
3. Leave the TITLE of your index file in your domain folder blank and it will automatically insert the domain address as the title name.
4. Now create another index file for your marketplace under folder public_html as your main page.
5. Create a 3rd folder called inquiry and put in a form, you can buy those cheap on the web.
6. Create a link on your landers to a place people can go to discuss or get educated (I use DN.ca of course)
Your transition to commission free landers is complete.
I took it one step further as in the image at the top of this post letting prospective clients know I will not be responding to low ball offers or autonomous offers by directing them to my inquiry form which explains all that,
I received so many $100 offers even though I specified larger amounts on DomainEasy that I stopped responding. For the new year I will be looking for more free time and unless I get a decent offer my form clearly shows you that you cannot waste my time. SERIOUS OFFERS ONLY.
I can also send someone directly to the inquiry form with mapledots.ca/inquiry/red.ca
See my lander at: MapleDots.ca
See my inquiry form at: inquiry.mapledots.ca
See a domain listing at: red.ca
All are super simple, no fluff and no bs graphics.
Lastly... use an easy to remember email address telling people you are in sales: sales@mapledots.ca
