I’ve been scratching my head on the domain name used by a branding company in Vancouver;

Skyrocket.is

I tried asking them, but didn’t get a response back.. is there any niche meaning that people are using .is for? Similar to gg and io

Or do you think they just picked Iceland’s cctld because it was available?

Seems like an odd choice for a branding company

You would think that they would inquire about the .ca. Apparently they are based in Vancouver so it’s strange that they haven’t messaged you about the .ca.

Ya, I agree. They may have sent me an anonymous offer at some point, but I doubt it.

I find it really strange that they are operating on Iceland's cctld, maybe there's some obscure niche meaning to them, but still seems an odd choice considering the business that they're in.

So called experts in branding don't typically try and convince a client that a premium domain name is worth the investment. They see that as funds that might be spent on them going to someone else. So basically, we're the competition. Maybe these guys are trying to practice what they preach?

I think you nailed it rlm, that satisfies my confused brain
