I find it odd some of the domains that I see listed on sedo. I haven’t parked or used sedo in a very long time but are they still verifying owners?

I saw NT.ca listed for sale but noticed owner from China and that NT.ca is a restricted .CA domain.

The annoying part is I see many of my domains on there from previous owners and they want verification to remove yet it seems domains are added that couldn’t have been verified.

They are requiring an Authorization Code now, but in the past it was the Wild West and anyone could list anything. So you have a lot of grandfathered-garbage hanging around from the "old days" that in order to clean up, now requires authorization.

So how was NT.ca recently added then?

No idea, as I don't know the specifics (such as when it was added) but if it was very recent then someone proved ownership via the DNS or some other way.

Maybe someone stole it? That happens all the time on Sedo, a scammer gains access to the registrar account and starts trying to sell them off ASAP.

Sedo still appears to do the occasional automated audit of listing validity, but obviously things still slip through.

FWIW, if you have an Account Manager or contact person at Sedo, they will help you confirm adding any domains you legitimately own and want to list. Same for de-listing; you can ask your Account Manager/contact to remove any domain you are now the new owner of that was formerly listed by someone else.

Thanks [notify]MaiTaiMan[/notify] I am just finding it annoying that I have to contact them and prove their my domains that are listed from someone else when they are not even verifying domains being listed.

You can search domains based on being newly listed. Which is why I was questioning NT.ca.

Yeah, NT.ca would be restricted due to Northwest Territories, so someone must have played a DNS trick to get that listed.

Or maybe CIRA let some loose again, like before, and someone is temp-holding NT.ca until the CIRA claws it back.

It MAY be because NT.ca is a restricted domain name and not registered at all. There is no way for Sedo to verify. It might be worth trying to list On.ca or Bc.ca just to test their system..or find a hole.

Sedo does drop the verification process for some accounts. They did for me after about 9 years of listing there. The only time I need to verify ownership is when my domain is already listed there by someone else.

I should have added that they only dropped it for me when I started having trouble verifying domains for absolutely no reason. I reached out asking what was up and explained how I been a long time member and knew for certain the problem wasn't at my end. And then boom, the verification requirement was removed (without me asking for that).

Previously, when I had to verify, my listings would automatically be removed if I let domains expire. I'm not sure if that will still be the case for those I now add without going through the verification process.
