Is the .forum extension a thing? (1.Viewing)

I hand registering some domains today and noticed the .forum extension. I had no idea that was even a thing. Has anyone seen one in use? The $99.98 price tag looks a bit prohibitive.

PS. Namecheap is not so cheap, at 16.37 CAD you can get it far cheaper at whc or canspace.
