They are basically moving the discussion to a forum similar to our Hushed where they don't display in any sidebars, are not promoted, and they are not indexed.

They have also added the ability for members to edit (basically remove) their posts in that topic because so many members were leaving after heated discussions.

I remember when they deleted a large topic I and Bob Hawkes @Bob Hawkes with a newer domainers where we spent weeks educating the domainers on the dangers of hand registering new domains. We thought it was a valuable topic and one day poof it was gone and no reason given. It was polite, constructive and a lot of effort went into it. Deleting it made me feel like I wasted weeks of my time and I finally decided to complain where I was told if I don't like it I should start my own form.

Then they started to interfere with the Canadian discussion topic when we asked them to make a separate .CA forum. They could have buried it in the ccTLD section but they said one topic was enough. So when members tossed the idea of maybe a .CA forum our posts got deleted. Then magically our private messages got deleted and Canadian started to get banned.

When I complained I was again told if I don't like it we should start our own forum.

So... here we are.

--------

Why am I bringing this up again?

Because from what I read above it appears to me NamePros has finally come to the conclusion that members are it's most valuable asset. Gone are the days of "Leave if you don't like it" or "Start your own forum if you don't like it"

NamePros has been bleeding top members for years, very active members that contributed large to their community.

I'm hopping NamePros has POSSIBLY altered it's heavy handed approach to moderation and instead of quoting rule 11 paragraph 5 subsection 4 they are looking at things more on a case by case basis which is the way you should interact with real people.

Maybe one day NamePros will allow the mention of other forums in topic instead of changing "dn.ca" to "rule_violation" every time someone types it in.
I will come back the day NamePros allows the mention, and cross linking, from other domaining forums. When you think about it that is no different than everyone linking back and forth from their blogs. NamePros has a blog and if they say no mention of other blogs they may as well close the lid of the coffin themselves. So freely allowing cross discussions from other forums is a way to create a thriving exchange of information with other countries that have their own domaining forums.
