Anyone planning to attend this conference? Looks like our own Bill MaiTaiMan @MaiTaiMan will be a speaker at the event.

If you haven't been to a namescon, they are fun to meet new people, meet people you've only known over the internet/email/phone, and of course to see old friends. The live auction is usually interesting, have bought and sold some non .ca domains there over the years, more just for fun than anything. There are sessions all day on various domainer related topics. It gets repetitive if you go every year, but since I haven't been in years (had no desire to go to Austin in August!), I may go this year. Anyone else thinking of going? Register by end of March to get the cheapest ticket ($300 USD).

Between the Tariffis and Bluster from the US I'm not visiting the USA this year.

Heading out to Mexico this week, Paris France in June and Quebec in September.

Yeah, my wife's burned out from doing too much travel and then tack on the air disasters, bad exchange rate, and the political climate, and she doesn't want to go either...

I have been to 3 of them in the past. Made some good connections and met with Industry leaders. That was when I met with Frank (both), Bill, Zak, Max and many others.. That was when it was in Vegas - now don't think that I went alone.. my business partner, who is my life partner joined me and when she didn't I took my son and introduced him to everyone. That was the last event that happened in Vegas. Never went to Austin or in Europe.

I am hoping to go this year and between now and end of March, I will have to make up my mind...

I know I've definitely seen you there a couple times, and I do remember your son being there the last time. Ilze usually shows up too, I was just chatting with her yesterday about the one at the Playboy Mansion and the Legionnaires outbreak that followed, lol. We both skipped that one, put on by DomainSponsor. When you say both Franks, I'm sure FM @FM is one, but are you referring to MapleDots @MapleDots as the other?

No, I wasn't there. I am glad we played it safe.. LOL

The second is Frank Schilling. Of course, Drew and the gang were all there too. The Live auction was very interesting for sure. Better for our Frank, MapleDots @MapleDots to stay at home. He might start bidding up!!! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I'm buying much more stuff on the sly nowadays, I have good communication with .ca holders and they know how to reach me.

I'm easily contacted and I pay up when the right deal comes along.

So lets just say... not all the Bodis landers you see are necessarily from people you think they are ;)

I was going to say that I didn't think maple has ever gone to one, that I've known at least. I just thought most people (here anyway) might assume it was Maple. Remember Schilling renting out that Hakkasan nightclub at MGM for everyone? It was a weird mix of old domainer nerds standing/sitting around and a ton of young scantily clad women paid to be there dancing around. And once the free drinks period was over, I remember I spent $40 USD for a 4 small bottles of water. And that was like 10 years ago. That'd probably be $100 USD now, lol. Wasn't that also the year where some LL like CD.ca was in the auction with no reserve and almost no one bid? Went for like $2K or something.

I talk about how sick I was after the Playboy mansion one at least once a year... Yes, I tend to attend some of the NameCons. Went to the first five and then some others since then, skipping the occasional year. Not sure about this year yet at this point. ICANN82 in Seattle is next for me.
