He stepped down when he made the deal with the NDP.
 
I think it is just going to get worse for Trudeau as people's cost of living goes up and housing gets more expensive and harder to find.

Now I'm hearing he's about to start messing with the farmers like they've done in the Netherlands and Sri Lanka, good luck with that.
 
I don't think his ego would let him step down voluntarily. He still thinks he's pretty great. This is the guy who wins an election with a minority government and thanks the voters for giving him a mandate. Kind of like Steve Jobs, having a reality distortion field.
 
He should but he won't because the way the Liberals have set up the country over the last 2 mandates virtually ensures that the PC party, or anyone else, will never ever win an election for maybe a century.

Just based on the gerrymandering and demographics-stuffing that's been in high gear since Trudeau got into power means that the Liberals will either win a majority of a minority 10 out of 10 times. Canadian elections are now a complete fix.
 
Feels like his popularity decreases every year. Eventually people get tired of the same party in power and then it's time to go. I think just get out of the way of Trudeau and the Liberals, and they will defeat themselves. The Liberals before Trudeau used to be an ok party, with Chretien and Martin.

The country is totally different today than it was back then and I say this with utmost certainty, the worst the Liberals can ever do in the current Canadian climate is a minority government. In the last election, Trudeau had horrible popularity ratings and was embroiled in blackface and anti-women scandals.. yet he is still PM.

It was not a Trudeau victory, it was a Liberal victory because that's how the country is now designed to vote.

At this point, anyone could run for the Liberals and be at least minority leader as it's a now a fixed game. A Liberal candidate would have to kill someone (as long as it wasn't someone we don't like), on video, in order to totally lose an election.

Liberal policies and gerrymandering have hamstrung both the PCs and Bloc, so all that remains is how many seats the Liberals and NDP split. Wait and see - we will never see another PC-led Federal government in our lifetimes. Maybe NDP might win enough seats to lead a minority government, but that's the upper limit of change and due to Liberal policy manipulation during their 2 terms, it'll stay like that for decades.
 
I don't know, the younger generation that supported Trudeau is looking around now and seeing higher tuition costs, higher housing costs, higher energy costs, never being able to afford a home, govt debt rising that will be left for the younger generation to deal with, higher taxes to support climate program that isn't getting results - and also to support govt benefits for older retiree generation. Plus all the scandals and corruption over the years that is apparent to anyone paying attention. They can't even manage the passport offices now.
The election vs Scheer (when Trudeau was dealing with blackface) would have been closer or even lost if Obama hadn't sent out a last minute tweet supporting Trudeau.
I really think their far left, woke, green agenda is stressing the economy and functioning of the govt so much that it is getting harder and harder to ignore by everyone except the most loyal Liberal supportor.
The shine and sunny ways of Trudeau is well worn off, and eventually people look around at all the problems and the blame is always put on those in power, especially if they've been the government for 7 years.
 
Most of the Cerb money went to people working part time making $4000 year and they were given $24000 year to sit at home for 2 years. No wonder no wants to work.

Child benefits are 5-$7000 per kid now.

Free dental

Free prescription drugs.
 
We keep hearing how can we be in recession or close to one when unemployment is so low and there are so many job openings.

Then I recently heard that during covid in the US, 20 million workers left the workforce. I wonder how many in Canada have left the workforce - and what does that even mean, early retirement, working for themselves.... anyway if true then the low unemployment/high job openings is just a factor of a reduced workforce, not a booming economy.

I bet we could actually afford a lot of these free things and benefits, IF the government wasn't so wasteful with their finances..

Seriously, the article stated that IF provinces (like Quebec and the East Coast) raise taxes, lower services and stop eating money, then it's sustainable, but how likely is it that will ever happen?

It's like telling a fat guy that if he cuts his calories, works out an hour a day and lays off the fatty and sugar-filled snacks, he'll be in great shape, no problem. Come back in a year and he's gained 30 lbs.

Same thing here, pie in the sky BS designed to make Canadians feel better about being over 7 TRILLION dollars in debt.
