So you had a few too many drinks last night and decided to register some domain names, that sounded like a great idea at the time… However now you have woken up and realized how much you spent or you made a massive error and registered a typo domain name.

Accidental domain name registrations can happen but can you get your money back?

Fear not Domain Name Investors – If you have registered with GoDaddy, you might be able to get a refund…

It would be interesting to post the policies of each registrar.

I have to admit I have misspelled a couple of registrations in my day.

@FM you would know more about this

To request a refund, please submit a written request specifying the invoice number to be refunded directly from your Client Area, after having cancelled the service(s) in question within the prescribed time limits.

We are only able to issue refunds for Paypal & credit card payments. Non-automated payments (checks, e-transfers, direct deposit or wire transfers) can only be refunded as account credit.

Renewals (except for non-refundable services) can be refunded up to 5 days after they have been renewed, if an immediate cancellation request was submitted, followed by a refund request through a Billing ticket.

Please consult our Terms of service for additional details regarding our terms.

Managing refunds on domain registrations isn't an easy thing, especially because many registries also impose limits on the amount of domains we can delete for a refund. This can become complicated to manage, especially if we were to offer clients to directly delete domains on their own.

Oh and I don't know any registry that give refunds for renewals or transfers.

Dynadot used to offer refunds for registrations over the first few days, going down in price each day.
Not sure if they still do
