With namepros switching to the latest version of Xenforro they have finally given in and joined DNForum using the most innovative forum software on the market. Until now they have been running an outdated customized version of Xenforo which has now been upgraded to the latest version number.

At DN.ca we use a very small basic install that is not as bloated and feature rich as Xenforro. The biggest advantage to our software is it is small, I can customize it by rewritting anything and restores take seconds.

I have been asking myself if we should join the Xenforo crowd and switch board software. That would definitely add to the costs but it would bring us in line with the same look and feel of the other forums.

So asking the member base...

Do you like the current software or do you think I should make the switch to move DN.ca to Xenforo?

I think our current software seems to be working fine for what you set out to do Frank. I don’t see the sense in adding costs if you don’t feel it brings extra/necessary security….imho

I agree with Jaydub. I believe if it doesn’t add any value, security, speed, etc, this one works just fine. The load time is still incredible.

Just wanted to get feedback what members thought

Our load times are the best in the business because of the small code base.
Mind you it can slow down if there is a live twitter feeds that hang the code for a few seconds.

I like it the way it is. Unless you’re looking for a specific add on. I would keep it the same.

Not looking for anything specifically, just was not sure if some thought uniformity across forums might be a nice thing.

So I built this template to use on a few projects and if you sign up and play around with it that is what DN would look like other than a lighter blue

I like it how it is, but ultimately I'll go along with your decision [notify]MapleDots[/notify].

Most of you will now see a new link on the main page leading to our new sister forum namepost.com

It runs parallel to dn.ca and namepost.ca forwards to dn.ca

Log in and look around, it will give you an idea of what a good installation of Xenforo looks like without all the ads and stuff you find on the competitors.

Why did I launch this?

Red Light / Green Light - Why we are different

There is another project launching in the next couple of months to develop one of my other sites as well.
