TBR Drop - Sep 7, 2022 (1.Viewing)

I think there is also an immigration company using the acronym.
There are at least 2 of them.

Fil-Global.com and FilCanada.com. I doubt they're on top of TBR drops but could be.

ps: filcanada.ca and fil-global.ca are still available for registration so i dunno.

scarlett.ca = $628
I kinda wanted Scarlett - because I already have Scarlet. The double tt is maybe twice as popular as the single t as a first name. But the single t is also the proper spelling for the color. But I too was distracted and missed the auction end today, but not by a tuna bagel melt.

That was a good deal. I also wanted that one...

That's as high as I was willing to go - it's good, but no where near Scarlett-good and I certainly wasn't prepared to pay too much for it.

I had two names rated higher that I got for $20.

I must say, I'm surprised at how well TBR auction prices are holding up. I've more or less avoided them for the past 6 months waiting for prices to drop, came back this week to bid on fil and a few others and couldn't even win cornwallrealestate lol.

I agree and I don't know where all this TBR money is coming from. The .CA domain market is way down in terms of dollars, and although there seem to be people wiling to buy, they are offering less than usual due to the economy. With that in mind, I really don't understand why top-end domain prices seem to be increasing of late... maybe I took the wrong business courses, but that makes no sense.

I am being extremely frugal right now and am just happy to get what I can off the TBR for the price I'm prepared to pay. And I don't worry about the rest.

Since you don’t sound super thrilled by it, I will give you 200 bucks, means your other two are free plus an extra 20 bucks for next week.

I didn't win it (I meant I wasn't prepared to go $150 or higher) especially as I had a feeling who I was up against.

I know that in some online auctions, the organizers can participate in the bidding to get the ball rolling. Is that the same for TBRs? Do registrars place bids against bidders?

They're certainly not supposed to as it would amount to a scam where the only outcomes benefit the registrar, in an extremely unfair way, regardless of whether they win or not.

The registrar would either:

1) drive up the price a lot higher than it would be if they weren't bidding; or
2) they win the auction (and may have bidded up to 10K, for example) but in the end they don't need to pay more than $10 or whatever since that's the actual cost.

They could essentially keep bidding to see how high they can get you to go, all while knowing they'll never have to pay more than 10 dollars for it if you stop bidding and they win.

They would either be robbing you, or they get a premium asset for peanuts.

We do not.

I dunno how i feel about 2-word domains that end with centre (or center).

TicketCentre.ca Vs TicketCenter.ca?

Which is better? And/or do you need both to avoid confusion?

I would lean towards "centre" if I had to pick since it's the British/Canadian spelling, and it's spelled the same way in French although the words are usually reversed; for example: BellCentre.ca and CentreBell.ca. But I'm still not 100% sure what most Canadians would type in first without seeing the spelling in advance. Center still has a lot of usage I believe, and TicketCenter.ca has also been registered since 2003

TicketCentre.ca if I had to choose one since we are in Canada.
