To be honest I think it's more a product of Siber/WHC offering price levels in the $20-$35-$50 range, while MyID starts at $60. There were only a few really good ones this week (of which MyID got some), while the rest would have been a real stretch at $60 a pop.

That is spot on for me. There are some names that I see as decent but couldn’t care less if I get it but for $20, why not. With MyID’s minimum $60 bid, I don’t bother there for the “lower end” names.

Sibername use to have $60 minimum bids not too long ago if you recall so a great business move on their part for lowering the minimum price to $20. Whomever at Siber did that, deserves a gold star!

I wonder how much WHC paid CIRA to backdoor all those domains...

A very bold leap indeed with the previous post!

I just keep telling myself "don't hate the player, hate the game."

Now the only question remains is who's going to crack open their wallet wide enough to fit a Koala into it...

And we're now into 4-figures...

* I had a sale fall through yesterday on Dan, so that means I won't be bidding on this domain like a drunken sailor. I was thinking of effectively "trading" some of that $$$ into a portfolio upgrade.

I thought the Koala auction would go longer than that, but I guess the money was already high pre-auction.

Damn, I was hoping to get this one relatively cheap, but I'm out.

I was expecting it to reach $2K. Still a good price for what it went for.

Sheeeeet, over $500 now.

Everytime I say I'm out, they pull me back in. There are like 3 of us right now hitting each other with hammers.

And it's over, at just above $550.

Was a great step by step increase. Someone wanted it desperately.

I really liked it, and I felt like being foolish with some cash, but once it hit $500 I was gone.. for real this time.

Oh, I didn't see this post before I made the other.. Sorry..

No prob, but that was one ugly, ugly fight. I'd bid, then suddenly there would be 3 more bids right after me, in quick succession, then I'd jump back in to take the lead... for about 20 seconds. LOL

Pre xmas excitement lol

I think it had to be an end-user (or a broker on their behalf) to create that kind of aggressive bidding war + hit that level of a wholesale price.

Like Eby stated, "Someone wanted it desperately."

Sorry missed it
What was the domain and the final price?

We were talking about stepbystep.ca and I believe it was $550
