Word to the wise: If any of you are in the Sibername auction ending tomorrow for a well-known mayor's domain name, last name rhymes with "story", shoot me a quick email first before you bid (again): bill at nameninja dot com

Hard to believe 280 were picked up this week.

What’s also hard to believe are some of the names that were picked up.

Insane…really

Completely agree. There were a couple or more that were very valuable yesterday, like the 3 char, the fruit and few others. Other than than that, I would say 75% were questionable.

To me, it seems like someone is testing traffic on those domains and would end up a very costly experiment like what I have heard of.

There are a number of JUNK domains being picked up *CRAZY*

The Pandemic Petes have been buying junk for months now, as you can probably notice from the vastly-inflated TBR selection numbers - I can foresee a 300+ pick week if we ever get a primo drop.

Like I've said before, many newbies seem to be transposing the ".COM Rulebook" onto .CA, which does not work, and will result in a very expensive lesson.

Anyone know how much Apricot and Greenbank went for?

So did everything work smoothly out for Mr. Story today? And did someone get fired for letting that drop?

Amusing... I post "sucks butt" (not ass, butt) and I get edited, yet this extremely-sexist and juvenile conversation continues unabated.

We try to not edit posts and you said it best when you said juvenile discussion. That may be but it is still a discussion, whereas when you direct inappropriate language toward a person, entity, or business, we have no choice but to edit it. We will leave an edit reason.

You can say...
This site sucks

You cannot say...
This site sucks butt (because where do we draw the line if you add different body parts)

Your opinion sucks, or your idea sucks, or your website sucks.

You get the idea, we can criticize without name calling so that google does not tag us as an adult site in search.

Man that’s too bad. I was really saving the “you suck” for someone special.

Someone else outbid me for the domain. I was hoping to get it to give it back to 'Mr. Story' since he was very kind to me early on in my career, back when he worked at a big telco, but since I was going to donate the domain to him I wasn't about to pay big bucks for it or get caught up in a bidding war. I hope whoever won the domain does the right thing and the domain finds its way back to him.

That's too bad. I checked out its history and it's pretty clear that was never meant to be dropped. Good on you for trying to get it back though.

I need to ask though, are you sure you weren't in a bidding war with him directly and just raised the price on him in the end? lol. I doubt, but there should have been ample time for someone on his team to notice something was wrong.

There's actually a shocking amount of news stories where Canadian politicians let their domains drop which are then picked up by someone else after... usually a political opponent or just someone not very happy with that politician. I was even thinking of making a topic about it here.

Here's one from a month ago, which [notify]DomainRecap[/notify] shared with me not long ago:

Not sure when you last visited the domain but it certainly didn't find it's way back to Mr. Tory, unfortunately.

Thought I'd mention it since it's being used in an... interesting... yet sketchy... kind of way.
