On WHC it's stress city you're going to be caught in a never-ending error loop where the system will just not allow you to place a valid order.

Lol, no wonder I won a few domains uncontested. Pretty sure I mentioned last week this would cost them money, only took one week to prove that out.

And yep, that's what was happening to me last week. Then this week, I place a new order and last weeks orders still were in my cart. So I had to empty my cart first by click the delete symbol for each domain.

Then I pasted in a new list and thought there's no way this will fail now!! ahah, I've outsmarted you. BZZZZT. Wrong. A couple domains that got bumped from last weeks tbr to this weeks tbr were still apparently on order - thus causing my current order to refuse to be submitted. Apparently ignoring dups was too far out of the box for the developers to predict... So I had to delete those orders too. Then I had to wonder, since I just deleted those, do I _really_ have it ordered??? In any case, after manually deleting the dup submissions for this week, my order finally got placed - and just in time...

HeHe

Yup, just saw it, was wondering why I got it for 20 bucks

Kept looking at it wondering how I possibly won Iris for $20 bucks when it is Lris

HaHa too funny

Maybe the company Iris.ca will give me $20 bucks for it *ROFL*

Lol.

And on an entirely unrelated note, can I sell you lnternet.ca?

full disclosure: I don't actually own it, but for this gag, I wished I had!

I've been supportive of WHC in the past, even after they pulled boner after boner after boner... but this latest one cost me access to several auctions that I was quite interested in, and I'm starting to move to the dark side.

Siber worked perfectly, but WHC does not function properly week-to-week and their features and options are one-note, like no payments except credit cards and no invoicing. I really miss Siber, which I feel was the gold standard for TBR registrars and we're now left with the archaic MyID and the "who knows what boner they'll pull next week?" WHC.

nice - whc website goes down in middle of bidding

well thats messed up. website finally reloads just seconds before auction closed on me.

Someone else must have noticed this too, no? Basically, you know how their auction page updates itself? Well it reloaded my browser on its own (right around 11am) and gave me a "page not found" type of message. I wished I had the foresight to screenshot it but I was kinda distracted by the fact it was down and posting here to see if it happened to anyone else?

I feel like a lot of domains in auction at WHC might have been affected by this. I got 3 domains on my initial bids from Wednesday. And someone put in a few bids before the auctions ended, and thats when the page went dead. All the domains I lost at WHC auction were basically just one or two bids higher than the initial bid price. There appeared to be zero bids past 11am, which seems highly unusual - at least from what I saw.

Note though there was only 1 domain I actually wanted to put a bid on that I didn't get to.

I don't think I had the same problem (I never got an error message), but I was certain I backordered a name that WHC caught and I never got an email saying I won or I was in the auction.

Is there a way to see which names I backordered for yesterday's TBR? I've never had to check after the fact before so I'm not sure this is even possible?

My "Backorder Archive" dashboard doesn't show anything under the won/lost/missed...but like I said, I'm 99.99% sure I successfully put in a backorder on a name that went to WHC

It is likely you tried to place the order, but that it didn't go through for some reason... Still seem to be some glitches.

Naah, I think you're mistaking the now infamous lris.ca went to me uncontested. :D

Lol. Nope, my "lrises" are fine so I saw that typo from a mile away

Maybe, but I didn't get an obvious error message. I'll pay close attention and screenshot next time

Right about now, nothing would surprise me concerning WHC screwing up the TBR. It's like a circus over there.

Someone there demanded that WHC take over the TBR by X date (no matter what!) and closed Siber waaaaaaay before they had a viable system to replace it. This happens all the time at poorly-run firms who put ego over execution.

Damn I miss Siber... :'(

Welcome to the club Spex, and our membership is only growing.

I can't wait to see what fun we all have when our Siber domains are transferred to WHC in 4 short days.

Well in all fairness, I don't think its _that_ bad. There are certainly a few hiccups, a few tweaks needed, etc... But I'd speculate that the iso fiasco accelerated the timeline, and if so, that's completely understandable. No one wanted to see that happen again. At some point you've gotta bite the bullet and just do it, rip that bandaid off. We all knew it was coming, I'm more surprised it took this long.

If a Systems Analyst took a close look at the TBR processes, features, options, stability, and overall end-user experience of Siber vs WHC, there is no question in my mind that Siber would come out way, way, way ahead on all metrics.

'Nuff said.

WHC has been improving the system slightly in areas, but as proven by the last few weeks, it's certainly not ready for prime time and could have used a month or more in the oven. And remember, ISO was an error on the WHC side, not at Siber, so closing down Siber hardly helps in that regard.

I transferred everything of mine out to avoid any pitfalls that may or may not come of this.

Hopefully all goes smooth.

Here's an interesting question - will the domain transfer incur a 60-day hold?

It shouldn't, as Baremetal amalgamated recently and other than a pile of CIRA emails, there was no lock, but with WHC you never know...

I actually find the WHC backorder system quite nice, but keep in mind I only go after a half dozen names at most.

For me it has been slick and smooth and I keep my won domains at WHC so as soon as I get 75 domains in my account I will get wholesale pricing. You already cannot beat the $9.99 purchase and transfer in on a .ca but as soon as you get 75 domains in your account you can ask them to set up wholesale for you on renewals.

So I understand all the woes from the larger accounts but for little stuff, like what I do, I found it to work extremely well. All the emails kept me informed when a counter bid came in etc. I don't think I could have asked for anything more.

Also the managing of the domains with forwarding and all that is slick and works great.

So all in all I am very happy with WHC, they just need to catch more domains, still kinda miffed I could not bid on dental.ca and bets.ca. I would have won dental for sure, but I don't think I would have bid as high on bets.ca, I would have bowed out thinking buying a few domains is better than putting it all in one.

The last few months I have been avoiding the low hanging fruit, moving everything out wasn’t a problem. I try to keep everything at one registrar so I only needed to move about 25 names.
