Tiktok.ca Registered More Than 18 Years Ago.

So I noticed how tiktok.ca was registered way back in 2004.

I found this interesting given that the TikTok we've all come to know today was only launched in 2016 (in China), and only became available worldwide in 2018 (4 years and 6 days ago).

This means the .ca owner bought the domain 12+ years prior to the TikTok launch in China, and 14+ years prior to Tiktok becoming available in Canada, which in turn generally means the TikTok giant wouldn't have much of a case to bring against the .ca owner if they ever wanted to take the domain away.

Not sure what the owner's intention ever was but props to him/her for registering this specific typo-type of domain so long ago. Talk about a long hold where the meaning and potential value of this domain has since drastically changed.

Wow, great post

In this case I think it's safe to say the owner has no worries in that department.

I can say that I would probably be utilizing the traffic a bit better than he is.
I am getting a lot off dead images and links on his site and there seems to be a parking frame or something loaded in the middle that makes the parking page unresponsive to mobile.

Like I said.... I would probably be tweaking all that a bit.

Parking page shows ads related to Tik Tok app. Big NO NO.

Not sure if it would be a CDRP because he predates and he can argue the ads are not his.

Given that the algorithm used searches out the word TikTok it is a given one will see ads and if the name was registered after TikTok was formed the owner would have been in trouble.

This one is right up @Zak 's alley but I'm not sure if the owner has to worry about those ads.

I know what Zak would say in this case. But a great topic and find by @Esdiel

I reg’d TickTock.ca since 2008

I was getting the same broken pages/images and never saw any ads until @silentg mentioned it. For me, the ads don't load on my laptop (see below), but turns out they do show on my mobile and from my desktop computer.
