Who is the best marketplace these days? (4.Viewing)

I'll take your advice and tr atom, i just hate that they have premium listings , diamond listings and some other type to get cash out of us.

Just stick with Standard listings, as they're now in the search path, and make use of the 7.5% commission.

Ignore the rest of the flash & dash and stick to the meat & potatoes.

* Just plan ahead, as Atom requires all domains to be authorized, but that also makes it a more secure place to buy & sell.

I'm curious - What are the features you're looking for in a marketplace, what's your wishlist?

I hear a lot of preferences for what dan .com was like - I've never used the seller side when it existed and the buyer side implementation was very weak. Aside from low commissions, what really matters for sellers?

There are no alternate market places, there are only landers!

A true marketplace allows you to search all listed domains in the marketplace and/or searching of listed domains by user. We don't need any more landers, we need a real marketplace to replace Dan. All the others are glorified landers, without search so called marketplaces are all duds!

Have you tried Atom?

To me, it's like a hyped-up version of Dan with potentially lower commissions. There is a wealth of traffic data and other info, and they have a constantly-improving search engine (which now supports Standard listings), a robust negotiation area, multiple deposit options, LTOs, AI logos, etc, etc., etc.

I've only been there 5 days, but I'm turning into a big fan.

LTO for .ca?
Any leads yet?

More proof about the "Are you still interested" broker scam at Afternic, excerpt from NP:

Their brokers are absurd. I've been trying to buy a 4 figure name for mos. I respond with paragraphs and offers. They say "I'll check with the seller". Weeks later I get a "are you still interested email". This happens every month. As a buyer, I'm frustrated beyond words.

just moved a few domains over to SAW.com, seems pretty decent so far. Only thing that I'd suggest is if they could have a longer lease window than just 12 months. It would be nice to bring the payments down a bit, 24 months makes a big difference and even more so in this economy.

I have quite a few at saw.com

Depends on the price...

Up to

5k = 1yr max
6k = 1.5 years
7k = 2 years
12k = 3 years
15k = 4 years
20k = 5 years

Maximum 5 years at 20k plus

You just have to ask more for your domains ;)

I was giving people a bit of a break LOL, I think $1,999 by 20 months would be cool in a perfect world. $99.95 a month seems pretty doable but I understand it drags things out getting deals completed as well a pain for the long term administration. So far so good though I like it. If Afternic is reading this thread, this is how you lose millions in domain sales by people mass moving over entire portfolios.

Anything in particular that makes you like them so much?

Part of it is me coming from Afternic , which is virtually impossible to sell at right now using Make Offer, so any port in a storm, right?

But even so, Atom is top-notch in my opinion. The landers are fast, the support group is excellent, analytics are top-notch, the offer/negotiation area is fully-featured, I'm getting inquiries and sales, payments are quick and smooth - I'm just very impressed. And knock and on wood, as the last time I was pleased with a domain marketplace GD bought it, then closed it down. :mad:

* I don't mean to paint Atom some magic solution, as it clearly isn't, but it does give you the tools you need to succeed. On Afternic I was getting consistent offers but the brokers would just sit on them and send out "Are you still interested?" emails every week or so. So I made zero sales in Jan-Feb and I had pages of "Stalls". With Atom, I have regained full control over the negotiations so I am now translating some inquiries into sales, which is near-impossible (unless you use BINs and take the brokers out of the equation) to do at Afternic.

So if you're using Make Offer and coming from Afternic, and you liked Dan, you're going to love Atom. If you're already sending traffic to places with self-brokerage and negotiation like Saw, Dynadot, DomainEasy, etc., or using your own landers, then it's not going to be such a big change.

It's almost starting to feel like we are getting over-marketplaced in domains. Is there really enough room for so many of them, guess we'll see.

That's what happens when a market leader like Dan gets bought and openly targeted for closure. Nature abhors a vacuum.

There are lots of cool things and features with Atom.com, but the UI/dashboard is so busy and complicated it always gives me a headache. Also, unlike a marketplace like SAW.com, Atom.com does not offer sellers the opportunity to have a broker interface with the potential buyer, if that is your thing.
