Who is your favourite REGISTRAR? (2.Viewing)

Obviously missing a few nice Canadian options but WHC and Canspace are my faves, even though WHC is not listed there.

I had thousands of domains at HOVER back in the day when they were called Domain Direct, right at the switch over to hover.
Nothing I have experienced to date equaled the features of Domain Direct and the strip down of Hover and US pricing made them drop off the chart for me.

Canspace - is one of my faves because pricing is consistent and the same on registration and renewal.

WHC is where I keep anything of value.... WHY?

You activate two factor authentication to get into your account and then you can select specific domains to have a second two factor authentication to make any changes on it. So if someone somehow get into my account (lets say you accidentally leave a device logged in) and someone tried to move red.ca away, or change name servers then it would prompt you for second factor again.

I use google authenticator for any additional authentication, it is much more secure than SMS.

I would pick WHC as a top because of @FM
Sav - EVen though they had issues, they're listening and fixing. And they're one of the few registrars that don't change your nameservers to parked page after domain is expired.
Spaceship (Support & Pricing)
Dynadot - Good support

I’ve been using Namespro for well over 15 years and never an issue. Their support is one of the best.

WHC has also been very good for me. Pricing and support is A1. :)

I considered them, but too much manual stuff, I remember buying domains from you having to wait until after the weekend to get transfer codes.

All that stuff should be automated, no excuse for manual stuff anymore.

I agree with the manual stuff. They do have an automatic push option into a fellow Namespro account which is very handy. That’s one thing I wish WHC had….. Unless it’s been added in the last little while.

That is going to be more and more important as more domainers use WHC.

A push to another account is almost a necessity.

@FM any idea on a time frame for this?

Hey everyone, thank you for the kind words. I definitely have to share those with the rest of the team, as it's certainly not all just me.

While account pushes are not on the list the immediate roadmap for us yet, but certainly something that is on my radar and list. I'll let you know when there's a date for this, but in the mean time, I'd really like to hear which implementation you like best.

  1. So let me know which registrar does this best in your eyes?
  2. What makes them the best?
  3. What's their process?
  4. How do you want to be notified about incoming pushes and accept them?
  5. What else is important to you when it comes to account pushes?

I've done pushes at 4 registrars and I think Porkbun does a pretty good job. All you need is the recipient's username, and you can send domains in bulk in (what has been in my experience) just a few minutes: How to Push a Domain Into Another Account - Porkbun Knowledge Base

Porkbun is $9.05 register and $9.30 renew for a .ca but they charge in USD

The $9.05 converts to $12.29 before your credit card company adds their 2%
True, which is why I'm moving my domains to whc. Yet, whc can't touch porkbun when it comes to bulk features. And when I bought my domains there, .ca's were only $5 US. Constantly changing prices.

In my opinion GoDaddy has the best bulk tools, their export to a spreadsheet is insane, especially when you export with transfer codes.

At godaddy I could select 500 domains and the bulk change would be made, count on it.

Their interface turned a bit buggy for a while but the bulk tools never let me down.

That said, the WHC bulk tools have come a long way but I am waiting for the bulk forwards, that is dearly needed.
