You could also lose access to your domain name's registrar account (1.Viewing)

I use one of my oldest domains that is hosted by GoogleDomains and I can forward it to any mailbox in seconds.

Since GoogleDomains is a paid service I don't worry about it shutting me down.

I don't use a regular domain address because if you lose access you can lose access to your domains but the same goes for a free google account.

The only answer is a rock solid paid account where you know you always have access.
