I just received this email from godaddy for a one word .ca

I blocked out the domain but in all my years with them I have never received an email like this.

That will be the day when godaddy will dictate the value of one of my domains.

Funny how they picked that particular domain though, I thought I had lots more valuable names than that one.
 
Those "You're Richer Than You Think" ads from the banks are worse, as these are targeted at getting people to borrow even more debt against their house and other assets, which is pure evil.
 
It's a clever way to encourage you to list the domain for sale (via Afternic/GoDaddy) or at least continue to renew it.
 
The one good thing about it is the fact that its letting all these domain owners out there know that these domains have aftermarket value. So it is bringing awareness and education to the general public. So that is a good thing, I guess. I say I guess only because I find their valuations very low compared to my sales.
