So a couple years ago I did a test at Dan, moved in a bunch of domains, tried putting up BIN prices on some, especially cheap TBR wins that I didn't want to negotiate over, etc... The results were underwhelming, especially when you factor in the commissions. So a year or more ago now, I moved nameservers away from Dan so I didn't have to give up commissions on every domain I sold from my own leads/traffic. However, I neglected to actually remove the listings from Dan, partially out of laziness, but partialy because I figured it was irrelevant since I wasn't sending my traffic any more.

Well, a minor miracle happened today - out of the blue, Dan was requesting an auth code for a sold domain name. At first I thought it might be a fishing scheme, but it was a legit sale. So while it was a nice small surprise ($2500 USD), the only real complaint was the 25% commission. Ouch. But it was only a $20 TBR domain from 2 years ago, so I'll take it, and it appears it was legitimately a lead from their own network. After checking traffic stats on the domain, it appears the buyer did NOT visit the domain before buying it (which just seems bizarre to me). That's a scenario I really thought had slim to zero chances of happening. So I guess that proves its not truly zero, just slim.

So now I have to decide what to do with my dan listings, has anyone else sold a domain on Dan without using their nameservers, and without importing the lead?

Yes it happened to me as well but since my domains resolve to my landers I removed them from dan. I figured why should I pay 25 percent when they all land on my info anyways.

Ps. I sold 3 domains today, including one to a member here. I was not able to answer my emails a few days because of my allergy situation so today was a good day back. I was going through all my emails and these 3 came together quite nicely but technically a build up of a few days.

On all 3 there was zero commission and zero bank charges. I love doing business in Canada with e-transfer, its so sweet knowing I'm not giving my hard earned money away.

Congrats, that's a good day. Any worth reporting?

Just stuff that keeps one going on renewals, highest one was just under 3k so nothing huge but something to note here...

Usually I respond to the emails within an hour of getting them. Being laid up this time it took 2-3 days for me to respond and all 3 closed within one email thereafter. Mind you I was reasonable on the price but not appearing too eager might have played into it a bit.
