Online alcohol sales in Canada have seen significant developments aimed at improving access and transparency. As of July 2025, ten provinces and territories have agreed to a Memorandum of Understanding to advance direct-to-consumer (DTC) alcohol sales, allowing consumers to order alcoholic beverages directly from producers for personal consumption; this initiative is targeted for full implementation by May 2026. Provinces and territories are also working to implement or enhance retail e-commerce platforms for alcohol sales, with the goal of expanding market access for producers and improving consumer choice.
