it will be interesting to see how they bill it. Since the domains were acquired outside of TBR - should they charge us regular registration rates? Do they have the right to auction them off still? I mean whatever privileges they have as a registrar during a TBR session probably doesn't apply to domains bought outside of a TBR session. Especially considering the CIRA warehousing rules we've discussed elsewhere here.
I haven't heard anything yet. Those domains they registered after TBR (for which I and undoubtedly others had placed TBR orders for) have not been added to my auctions, nor have they been listed in my payments.
I suspect they're figuring out what to do now that I pointed out the error of their ways and the contradiction to the rules. This may have screwed myself of any chance to get the domains now though - but all in the name of doing the right thing, so that's fine.
However, I can suggest two courses of action for Sibername/WHC that would arguably be considered fair and wouldn't contravene the registry rules:
1. award the domain to the FIRST user that submitted the domain name for TBR, at the standard pricing for a non-tbr domain name registration.
or
2. delete the domains and let them go back to TBR.
What do other forum members think would be the right thing to do?
[notify]rlm[/notify] which names are you referring to? Can you give me an example? I only backordered one at WHC and I’m in auction. I don’t see any issue with when they picked up the domain.

A combination of the two, with any auction featuring only one bid taking the 1) option, and any domain with multiple bidders taking 2).
One thing is weird, how could a domain with multiple bids at Siber go through the entire TBR process without getting picked up somewhere else? I'm sure it's possible, but a lot of people hedge their bets elsewhere.

Yes, you'd think that'd be the situation. But then again, MyID and Sibername are so successful at grabbing TBRs that sometimes people get lazy or are too busy and in a hurry to put in mostly pointless bids elsewhere. I know that was the situation for myself yesterday.

I know what you mean, but that one time when Siber cooked it by not adjusting for Daylight Savings taught me to make the time. I was in a hurry so I put all my eggs in the same basket that week, and even worse, it was a primo TBR list.
time's a tickin on the usual auction clock... would be nice to know if I will get the opportunity to put bids on these missing domains or if they'll just be awarded to people - or go back to TBR. I've got other things to do than sit around waiting until the last second...
I tried to go through support but they've been useless so far.
I don't think whc would do that. For one, I trust [notify]FM[/notify] as being a pretty ethical guy. But I do believe they're not exactly on the ball over there at Sibername/support. They're slow getting on top of this thats for sure - considering it was pretty well known that shit went wrong.

I'd suggest that WHC/Sibername should have an employee audit the TBR results immediately after each session and if anything seems like it's out of the ordinary - and then investigate and fix it and let people know asap. Well actually, it should be pretty simple to write some code to do the audit automatically... But then have someone available and capable of cleaning up the mess if the audit shows anything out of the ordinary.
