Forum Spam Clean

All the forums now share a database for spam and they cross check the email/ip etc to a standard database before allowing signup/posts.

All I can say is wow, it caches dozens of sign ups per night and one button to delete.

amplify @amplify that would be a story for your site ForumDiectory.com

A good article to use for XF management, but it probably would be on an admin forum instead.

I use a combination of StopForumSpam and various other tools to block spammers (countries, ASN, etc., all adding up to a potential "flag" as a spammer). If they get the lowest spam score, they can still make it through, but are added to a user group where they cannot submit content without approval. After they reach 5 posts that have been approved (1 would be enough to catch and ban), they're promoted to a regular registered member. I also monitor user change logs to see if in, say, 30 days, someone adds a link to their profile, which doesn't really matter much, as I turn profiles off for guests (so there can't be profile spam on Google, but users could still see it). If a profile is modified after like X days of inactivity, it's a clear sign it's a bot trying to get that backlink in there or to blend into the community, so it's edited out and they're banned (if it's a spam link).
