Will this be a more calmer week than the one we just had?
A few interesting 3 chars in the mix and then some.....

Can feel the excitement diminishing.

I had to pay my fair share to learn and accumulate and so did everyone. But I agree, the longer it takes to off load what’s being picked up now, the painful it could become. But there are certain domains that are truly worth the money but they are few.

We took a route that worked for us and then there are others who take a different route to get there I believe. That’s life!

Tell that to the Crypto and NFT guys whose lives were ruined by "learning a different way". Sometimes "there" is not a nice place to be.

The market is always the ultimate judge of any "new strategy" and I just don't see the .CA market expanding at such an extreme rate that it will immediately support those inflationary TBR wholesale prices.

These current prices are for hobbyists who just buy a few select names and then hold them for 10-20 years when the market may have caught up.

I wouldn't say that these are being bought by only hobbyists. Senior members here are also buying them and putting them to good use. But I agree that there may be others who are paying way up high.

Seems like, the end users are doing the same, with notable members here claiming that the domains we saw in the drops were domains they sold to end users for a substantial amount, only to see them drop back again. That's the life cycle of a domain name to me.

I'm just tired of this Restricted Domain insanity and I know in a year's time some people are going to be pulling their hair out at the crazy and unsustainable prices being paid.
In your opinion, some examples?

I don't really want to get into it, but a few were mentioned in previous TBR threads.

For a quick example, I couldn't figure out the price on Boxing for the life of me (the auction went on for over an hour), then RLM comes out as having just jacked it up to see how long it would go. Probably a lot of similar tom-foolery going on these last few months, but someone is always left holding the bag.

Just for the record, I would have certainly taken it had I won the auction, I wasn't doing it solely to jack up the prices, its just a nice consequence when bidding on domains that you may deplete another guys wallet so that the other domains you're going after will have less competition, either that day, or the next week, or whatever.

We all know that, and I sometimes do the same thing in a 2-player auction to make sure the buyer pays a fair price, but I've also won and paid for my fair share of those.

Hey Frank,
Below, you'll find some of the hottest .CA domains available to backorder this week. These names will likely attract attention, so place your bid before 2023-03-01 at 2:45 pm ET sharp to get in on the auction.
If you're looking for something more specific, you can always search the full list with your own keywords.

Want to learn more about domains and backordering? ... We recommend you read about the lifecycle of a domain name, domain investing and domain backordering.
And stay tuned! The next few weeks promise to be exciting and full of opportunities for those into domain backordering. Starting this week and until the end of March, CIRA will be releasing thousands of previously blocked domains (.CA domains that have never been made available before.) You can find the full list and release dates here.
Don't see the name you want? Stay tuned for next week's backorder list!
Happy bidding!
Cheers,
Frank (Chief Domain Nerd here at WHC)

I think it's pretty obvious there is a Big 3 this week, and after that some nice domains but a HUGE drop-off:

1. Peace
2. ION
3. PEP

Not a big fan of Paws myself, especially compared to the above 3.

There's a pet grooming business down the road from me called PAWS, so I guess I'm biased lol. Every city in Canada also has a "Pet Adoption and Welfare Society" that uses the acronym, but I doubt such an organization is ever going to spend 5 figures on a domain.
