What the H?

When I first saw it, I gave some serious thought to laying down the lumber and buying Name for a project I've been thinking about.

Then I did the usual research and found that Name.com was the prior owner, and the company would essentially sue my ass off if I bought the domain and started any kind of online venture, as they already have their fingers in every possible pie.

But if you don't develop it, you can almost guarantee a CDRP as it looks like some nitwit employee forgot to renew it.

Damn, this is why I can't have good domains.

The start of a real trend?

Some solid domains this week! In my opinion, name isn't overly risky to buy unless you try to launch a registrar on it, it's so generic I find it hard to believe a CDRP would be successful. Could be a great business selling custom email addresses. For $10/month you can use [YourName]@name.ca

Name.com is into a lot of different sectors, like hosting, online development, email, website creation, online workspaces, etc. so it would be a TM nightmare if you try to do virtually any online-based business using that domain. This is a "cease and desist" magnet, especially as Name.ca was previously owned and used by Name.com.

I was initially going to take a shot at it for a project, but after some investigation, no way I'm touching this hot potato.
