Summer Doldrums & Winter Blues (2.Viewing)

Despite the sluggishness I still believe in the future of .ca domains, and domains in general. My overall portfolio is not growing, and probably slightly shrinking as I drop some names from time to time, and add the occasional hand reg. I'd like to see how .ca domains do again when the Canadian economy gets back on its feet after many years of being almost comatose. And I always say, at any time you can get that one or two sales that changes everything.

That assumes that Canada's economy will ever get back to what it was, and this is no sure thing with the Liberals in charge for another 4 years. Many economists predict the opposite and point to our language, education and economic indicators, which are all absolutely horrible (and have dropped since Trudeau came into power) with many approaching, or already hitting, 3rd world-levels.

What the Liberals are doing is to flood the country with masses of unskilled or low-skilled people, which artificially increases the overall Canadian economy, but consistently lowers the GDP per capita, meaning every Canadian's standard of living is dropping each year under Liberal rule. It's similar to many financial fraud schemes, where the numbers seem to be increasing (to gain future investment), but are actually decreasing due to financial fraud (company eventually goes out of business).

https://www.fraserinstitute.org/stu...er-capita-declined-while-overall-economy-grew

I was privy to a transaction years ago where a family business was handed off the next generation, who proceeded to drive it into the ground, but in order to maintain their lifestyle, they would open up new offices with skeleton staff in order to get more investment capital and higher loans. Each time they ran out of money, they'd open up a new office and staff it with some rummies, then go looking for more loans and investment cash, rinse and repeat.

Sound familiar? Each time the Liberals need an economic stimulus to make the numbers look artificially better, they just import a few million more unskilled workers. Rinse and repeat.

From the outside it looked great as the business was expanding, but it was an unsustainable due to each new office lowering their revenue per location, and at a certain point the investors and banks called in their tabs and the business went under. Let's just say the creditors were not impressed at the family's chicanery and outright thievery, but in Canada there is not much you can do in cases like this. In Canada, you can literally steal $48 million in Crypto and face no jail time.

In the case of the Liberals, they are openly committing, and encouraging others to commit, immigration and foreign worker/student fraud in order to maintain power and artificially increase our overall economy, while consistently decreasing our standard of living. But at some point the Liberals either get voted out (leaving an economic abyss for the PCs or NDP to navigate) or they'll remain in power and the country will eventually melt down into economic chaos.

Yup, I had a lot of domains I offered 10k for where I would not do so now. In fact there is a four letter I offered 10k for and the owner recently contacted me basically two years later.

What did I say?

5k take it or leave it.

Guess what he did?

He took it

I'm pretty sure it will get better because the silent majority will eventually have had enough of the nonsense and demand change. Already the Liberals had to reverse some policies and eject Trudeau just to get elected again, and are starting to back five resource projects as important to the nation. It isn't enough but they are getting the message that change is needed. France government seems about to fall apart. UK and Germany also having problems. Seems the public can be complacent for only so long. It's like the guy who's been known forever to be quiet and keep to himself finally gets angry, then look out. Even though I think it will get better, it may have to get worse first.

The Liberals have a real problem with the Government Slave Labour (aka Temporary Foreign Worker ) program, as each day the news get darker and the response from Canadians gets more vocal. Not only are these greedy corporations stealing jobs from Canadians (especially vulnerable youth) they openly flaunt the laws, abuse the workers, accept kick-backs from scammer employment agencies. and then pay gov't fines that mean absolutely nothing to a billion dollar company.

And this "slave labor" thing is extremely pervasive, as companies love holding foreign workers hostage on closed work permits, and managers also love it because they can force them to work any hours, holidays, unpaid overtime, etc. and just fire them if they disagree. And that's not even counting all the kickbacks from the foreign "recruitment agencies" who force TFAs to pay significant fees to be employed in Canada.

It's a very sick 'Plantation owner' mentality, but that's the New Canada for you. In fact, Canada just recently passed a law stating that TFA companies could no longer hold their foreign worker's passports hostage as a way to keep them in line, which means it was legal and widespread before. My God.

The problem is, that the TFA is apparently (straight from Carney) "very popular in Quebec", which is where the Liberals get all their election power from. Gee, I wonder why the TFA numbers are running at a record high in 2025?

So I guess we'll continue to see more of these stories:

Canadian Tire owner fined $111K for violating temporary foreign worker program rules

He said the job offer for a full-time store supervisor position was very appealing, until his hourly pay rate was reduced from $20 per hour to $16.50 per hour. Pailan said Natarajan informed him of the change in a private conversation and threatened to terminate him if he told anyone about it.

Both Pailan and Cresencio say they paid $7,900 US (approximately $10,000 Cdn) to an Alberta-based recruitment agency to get the job with Natarajan at Canadian Tire.

Meanwhile, Cresencio says he was working far more hours than his contract stated, yet not being paid for all of them. Between October 2023 and January 2024, Cresencio's schedule showed he was expected to work between 42.5 and 53 hours each week. However, paystubs he provided to CBC indicate he was paid a flat rate of $1,600 biweekly, an amount that would equal 40 hours a week at his pay rate of $20 per hour.

And wait for it... here's the smiling poster child for TFA abuse... big surprise. :cautious:

Ezhil Natarajan is the owner of a Canadian Tire store in western Toronto. He told CBC he 'vehemently denies' all the allegations.:ROFLMAO:

Things are definitely not looking good in the .CA domain market, and so far I've had 9 unpaid (deadbeat) negotiated transactions (since mid-August) from what would seem to be valid buyers (some gave me their full names, email, company and phone number) but no one is paying. These aren't the usual deadbeat hobos (I had some of those I didn't include in my 9 transactions), as these take time negotiating, provide detailed reasons for their offer price, and give you valid corporate contact info (that works), but once the deal is done, they disappear.

This is unprecedented behavior and I have no idea what's going on, but at a certain point I'm going to shut down all domain sales activities for a month or so (to take a break) before resuming towards the end of November/start of December. I just need a significant time away from these weirdos.

Well I will say that yest it has been slow lately. But I'm also finding out that some of my emails (from mail on my own domain with google workspace/gmail), aren't getting through. I had a guy filled out a bodis form on two consecutive days, I responded both times and got no response. So I texted him and he said he didn't get it, and that I should send it to his email - but it was same exact email I was using in the first place.

If anyone wants to test if for me, fill out the form on op.ca - I'm curious if you get my reply or not, and if not, did it go to junk or what. I'm not sure if its an issue that is isolated to specific email providers? Its just frustrating when you see a blatant example like this of email not getting through to one person, then you start getting paranoid and thinking, how many leads have I been losing??

I just filled out your form and the email verification went to my spam folder.

Even though DMARC and DKIM passed Bodis is still flagged as spam.

I actually got the email with your offer from bodis at 8:13pm. So did you click the email verification from the email that went to your spam folder? Or did bodis send the email anyways?

So I'm also using workspace, and so using the bodis lander introduces one problem (the verification going to spam) and then when I respond to the buyer from my google workspace account, apparently sometimes THOSE are also going to spam, at least for some people.

I really need to do my own landers with my own web-based negotiation. Too many times it seems like email fails without you even knowing.

All your headers pass DKIM etc

You are going to spam because you are responding to the bodis form.

I suspect if you open a new email by not responding to the email from bodis it will not go to spam.

Bodis is marked as spam in so many places that I will guarantee you the gmail filters are filtering even the word to some degree.

The fact that the verification email went to spam with all email verifications at pass are a sure fire way to almost guarantee that even the word Bodis along with whatever other criteria they use triggers it to spam and that applies even to responses.

Thanks, that's a good point. The original headers are probably causing some issues. For the most part it seems to have worked fine, I've been using that form for years. But it seems every once in a while I get nothing but crickets and start to get paranoid that something is wrong.

He crawled to freedom through five hundred yards of shit smelling foulness I can't even imagine, or maybe I just don't want to. Five hundred yards... that's the length of five football fields, just shy of half a mile.
