I haven’t done outbound in a couple of years but for the most part, I haven’t had much luck. I did sell a 2 word .ca in 2021 via outbound email to the CEO of a major rates company for 4 figures.

You do have to be careful as an outbound email can lead to a CDRP. My recommendation is that if you have a decent 1 word/2 word or good 3 letter .ca would be to email but always be prepared for something legal….. As in funds in hand to defend yourself.

I tried it years back but it seemed a bit desperate, today I am more likely to send a little tweet with a link to a company I think might be interested in one of my domains.

I did sell a domain once by reporting one of my own though, it was done via email and an excellent story to whoever wants to read it.

I owned a 100% direct hit generic two word domain. The company had a hugely popular product and I pretended to be a concerned consumer and sent an email from a generic inbox to the head brass of the company reporting the fact that someone was using their name. Of course I did my research for trademarks and such before I pulled that little stunt.

About a week later I was contacted by the company and I sold the domain for 12k

Now I would like to say this is the only time I've done that but..... :p :p :p
